I'm reading this stuff and looking it up. Sounds like to me treatment will be pain meds, physical therapy, and orthotics, well that's where I am right now. Any medical people that can enlighten me.
MRI findings say:
The cartilage of the left ankle (says right above) joint appears unremarkable. I see no evidence of joint effusions.
There is severe edema with large degenerative cysts involving the anterior and middle articulations of the subtalar joint. The posterior articulation of the subtalar joint also demonstrates mild edema with smaller degenerative cystic changes.
The plantar fascia appears unremarkable. The tarsal tunnis unremarkable. The sinus tarsi has been replaced with fibrous tissue. This represents sinus tarsi syndrome. The surrounding muscles appear unremarkable.
Regarding the tendons, there is a partial split tear of the peroneous brevis tendon just inferior to the later malleoulus. Both the flexor and extensor tendons appear unremarkable. The Achilles tendon appears unremarkable. Both the tibialis anterior tendon and tibialis posterior tendon appear unremarkable.
The ligaments about the right ankle appear unremarkable including both the anterior and posterior talofibular ligaments, both the anterior and the posterior tibiofibular ligaments, the calcaneofibular ligament, deltoid, ligament, the spring ligamentnd the lisfranc ligament.
Impression? 1 Severe osteoarthritic changes are seen involving the 3 articulations of the subtalar joint, as described above.
2.Sinus tarsus syndrome.
3 Partial split tear of the peroneous brevis tendon.
In trying to look this up and make sense, sounds like swollen foot and lots of cysts in there. Also the parts effected effect my balance so explains why I have to be careful walking and even standing. Part of it has to do with how you balance yourself.
But in reading doesn't sound like a lot can be done since I have a problem with weight bearing and twisting my foot around to various angles to exercise it.
So medical folks any insight? I do go Monday so will see what they say. But I honestly have little hope of help for these other then what I am doing now. And if so it and the other foot will just get worse.
