What is the most effective way to transfer cash from one IRA account custodian to another?
It should be a non-taxable event for a 65-year old - correct?

trustee to trustee.... and yes, it is non taxable....

Let the new custodian know what you are going to do then tell the old custodian to write a check to the new custodian.
Do not have a check written to you because tax withholding in that case is mandatory.
