In this country town the prices are a lot higher then that. Now if you go to the city you may find some cheaper but not here. We seem to always live near stores that are way higher then others pay. I do shop the sale items like 10 cans of chilis for $1 each, but likely cheaper in the city.

Asparagus is 99 cents/pound right now. I love it when it is in season. (I need to talk to my mom about growing it again.)

Thanks for the list, but in this part of the country, fresh produce is a LOT more expensive during the Winter. $1.50 per pound for grapes? I can't even get them that cheap when they're in season. I think food prices are totally a regional thing.

I think the last time I bough them they were $2.49 lb. I get mine at Fresh Market which I know is a little higher but super fresh so worth the price.

I don't think I've ever seen asparagus that cheap before.
I've never paid $3/can even for name brand beans though.
There are definitely regional differences. I'm visiting my grandma in my hometown area. I took her grocery shopping. Milk was $1.15/gallon and eggs were $0.59/dozen and this was the regular grocery store not even Walmart or Aldi's.
