Thinking of taking the family to Ireland. Would you do a focused trip to really get to know one area (I.e., Ring of Kerry, Galway, Dublin, or Cork, etc.), or do it all in one fell swoop seemingly racing from one sight to another?

I saw the highlights and can't wait to get back. Two weeks was not enough to see it all.

I would do a couple of places only - I don't like the go, go, go trips at all. If it's a vacation, it needs to be relaxed. If I love the place I can usually go back. If not, not a big loss.

how much time do you have? and lmk when you get to planning. I spent a couple years over there, on and off, working.

I split our time in Dublin and out towards the Cliffs of Moher and did (long) day trips from there. We were there a week. I didn't feel like we missed anything.
Our day trips were the Aran Islands, Ring of Kerry, and Waterford. All were doable from one side of the island or another. This also meant we left the long amounts of driving to someone else.
