What browser are you using, Weltz? What happens when you do the following: - Right-click on the 'Spoiler' button, choose "Copy Image Location" (or "Copy Image Address"). Open the 'Insert Image' dialog, right-click on the URL field, and choose 'Paste'. Does the URL copy over?
If not, don't bother with the following step.
- Find an image on Google Images, click 'View Image' (open the image in its own tab) and perform the steps above. Does the URL copy over?
- Hold the Windows Key and press 'R' to open the 'Run Program' dialog. Type notepad and click 'OK'. It should launch the Notepad application. This should not require you to create an account. If it does, something is seriously wrong.
With Notepad open, repeat the copy portion of step 1. Right-click in the Notepad window and choose 'Paste'. Does the URL appear?
If so, select it, right-click, and choose 'Copy'. Attempt to paste it into the 'Insert Image' dialog per the paste portion of step 1. Does the URL copy over?

Find an image on Google Images, click 'View Image' (open the image in its own tab) and perform the steps above. Does the URL copy over? there is no "View Image" There's Open in new tab Open in new window Save target as. Open reading list Copy link Yadda yadda. No view image If I open in new window and copy the link, I get the dreaded X you see above

No view image If I open in new window and copy the link, I get the dreaded X you see above 'View Image' is a button that appears in the shadowbox (dark gray region surrounding the image) when you click on the image normally in Google Image. It appears fifth in a series of five buttons to the right of the thumbnail; it's not in a context menu. Choosing "Copy link" won't work here because the link in this case doesn't reference the image; it references a location (web page) on Google where one can view the image. You'll need to use "Copy image location" or "Copy image address". The reason I say to click 'View Image' first (to open up the image in a new tab) rather than right-clicking on the thumbnail is that the thumbnail image isn't a permanent and/or full-sized version of the image you want. Linking to thumbnails is bad practice, even if it works on occasion.

I was just on Windows 10 Edge browser / Bing search and I'll be damned I couldn't get a link image worth my life, and I know what I'm doing. Welts are you on Windows 10 by chance and using Bing as your search ?

I just tried this in Edge and it works:
When you get the Google page with all your thumbnails as a result of your search and clicking on Images, left click on the thumbnail you want to post. The page that comes up will be black with a full-sized pic of the image you chose. Below the image, on the right, choose More and choose View Image from the drop-down. Copy the URL from the address line on your browser and put that into the box provided by the picture icon here on the boards.

That worked, mmhmm. Thank you so much!
But why did it change suddenly, with no warning and no directions or instructions?
Just "Surprise!! Figure it out!'

I took a look at some of the links that were available with the other options you'd tried and they were miles long! Must be something Google has done, I guess. I've always copy/pasted from the original site and that's what you've just done. Should work for you every time.

I was just on Windows 10 Edge browser / Bing search and I'll be damned I couldn't get a link image worth my life, and I know what I'm doing. Welts are you on Windows 10 by chance and using Bing as your search ? I'm on Windows 10 Edge and using Google. I have identified the source of all your problems. I dared to try Edge when I moved to Windows 10. I figured I'd give it a fighting chance. I can't recall what it was I was trying to do, but within 3 minutes (literally) of starting, I discovered I couldn't choose where to download files, couldn't undock the search bar, and couldn't figure out how to do something utterly fundamental. (I seem to recall I was trying to save a web page.) After searching for the feature with no success, I ran a search and wound up on MSDN, Microsoft's official help site. The article title was "How do I [do this] in Edge?". It had several thousand 'votes', meaning it was an extremely common question, possibly asked by millions of users. The response: You just can't. It had been up for 8 months. I think I was trying to save a web page. Hence Microsoft's response to "How do I save a webpage?" for at least 8 months had been: "You can't. Who would ever want to save a local copy of a web page, anyway?" Goodbye, Edge. I know it seems hasty, but you're at three strikes in three minutes, and I'm cutting my losses.

I don't use Edge, either, Virgil Showlion, and for similar reasons. I'm quite happy with Chrome or FireFox. I have kept Edge so I can troubleshoot for others when I need to do so but it can sure be a pain!

I posted one picture long ago, never could do another, complained but everyone said it was simple so I gave up. Maybe I will read through this and try again. The directions were simple enough but nothing would happen. So how do I do it now? Simplify for a simple mind!

If it's a picture of your own, on your computer, you'll have to upload it to a file-sharing site (Amazon Photos is one, if you have Amazon Prime - others may offer more sites with which they have experience). Once you have it uploaded you can post it here by using the picture icon shown above the Reply area . Click on that and insert the URL of the picture you wish to post. If you're trying to share a picture from the web (like on Google or one of the other search engine sites) much depends on which browser you're using (ie, chrome, firefox, edge, etc.) because different browsers do things a bit differently.

I just have mine in pic files on the computer. I guess I don't have a file sharing file, so need to do that. Will try one day again. My pic files were uploading to the cloud for file storage and its full and never messed with adding more storage, never tried downloading from it either. My computer tech skills are iffy anymore at best.

CRAP! We finally figured out how to post pics by clicking on "View Image" and copying that address.
Well, surprise, surprise. surprise!
They yanked the View Image icon on image search,
Now it's just Visit, Save, View Saved, and Share. I can't post pictures again.
Why do they keep fucking with things which are not broken?
I'm really pissed.
