I've been spending my evenings working on my scrapbooking, which has been wonderfully calming. I've wanted to get the kids' scrapbooks caught up for years! I set up a folding table in my bedroom, so that I can work without having to clean it up/drag it back out every day. In the process of sorting through what I have saved, I have managed to organize it all and purge things I didn't really need to save. Purge count for 2018- 140/2018 Goals for the next 3 days: Clean out our SUV (much milder weather in the forecast, I need to take advantage of it) Take down the outside Christmas lights (again, take advantage of the nicer weather) Tackle our medicine cabinet and bathroom cabinet Work a little on the garage organization that we started last year. We ran out of warm weather so it kinda hit a stand still. Got the SUV cleaned out and even vacuumed! Also cleared up a significant amount of floor space in the garage- still got a lot of work to do in there, but alas, back to January weather after today. I also got the hutch cabinet in our dining room cleaned up. This is where I store board games and the kids coloring books and crayons. I threw out all of the filled up books and dried out markers. Count to date: 150/2,018

I pulled the weathertek mats out of my truck and scrubbed them today and cleaned the inside, looks so good, had it washed yesterday, they just don't do interiors around here, I miss that. Got the curtains up at MIL's except kitchen, that one is coming tomorrow and we didn't like the curtain rod I ordered, need something plainer. It can go at another rent house we have to work on. Hubs is working hard in the garage at MIL's old house, got another load of junk out, I took a wheelchair, walkers, and misc stuff to donate today. We found someone to take the scrap metal, bolts, and stuff. I just wiped off the door frames and baseboards where I hope to paint half my living/dining rooms tomorrow, have to tape it all first. Won't get much else done this week if we head for New York Thursday, depends on the weather, up and back. I also pinned up the hems of the new curtains in the living and dining rooms, I need to shorten all those. Will when I get ready to paint that side of the rooms. Bought paint and supplies yesterday so I won't run out.

No time.Meal prep for next weekI'd like to get to the junk drawer and try the link idea above. It's a narrow drawer in the kitchen as opposed to a large one, so it should be relatively easy. I'll report back. I opened the drawer only halfway. There's so much stuff in there something was stuck, and some things have fallen to the cupboard beneath. I quietly closed it and will address another day. Happy Monday, everyone! 3 new pages here. Nice job! ETA: I noticed a habit of mine. Similar to finding magazines dating back to 2015, when I thought it hadn't been that long since I went through the stack, Saturday I found a few spices past the expiration date. I thought I went through them when we were in the process of packing and moving last year? Apparently one of my problems is though I thought I just did XX a few months ago, actually, it had been years. Can I blame getting old?

Get the shower pan set in our new bathroom Lay the new tile floor Install the toilet Decide on shower fixtures Finish stripping the eleven million layers of paint of the wood dresser we are converting to a bath vanity Clean out/reorganize old bathroom medicine cabinet Clean out/reorganize old bathroom vanity and linen shelves Hang trophy shelf in DS1's bedroom (its been sitting on the floor for months)

It's not going to be windy tonight/tomorrow for trash day. Recycle and trash bins will be completely full. I've already put a stack of ancient Beatles magazines in the recycle bin that have been waiting for a non windy day. Another box emptied.

Hi DEcluttering Friends! It's been a long time! I was quiet over the summer because I went to the University of Oslo for summer school, then I was quiet in the fall because my beloved fur baby got cancer and we had to put him down. I've been so sad (I still cry as I type this). I need some motivation help. I've got 16 things I MUST or I'd like to get done today. Left to my own devices, I'd do all the semi-fun things first and procrastinate all the important/not fun things for never. Could you please pick a number for me and I'll do that job next? Saving4Norway 10 Sorry about your fur baby. Over the weekend, I decluttered a 5 shelf bookshelf in the laundry room and replaced it with a shorter 3 shelf bookcase. I threw out several curtain rods and pieces of curtain rods. I spent some time in my basement Saturday afternoon - picking things that I wanted to price and put in the new antique booth. Looking around at all that stuff was really depressing. On the positive side, I now know where my snow blower is! My declutter total is just over 300. (I'm not counting things that are going to the antique malls or being listed on Ebay).

Norway: 1 16 I just installed Uber . As you guys know money is extremely tight but this is DH's play week, so he's not around AT ALL during the evenings or weekends these days. With DS2's surgery, I decided it would probably be better to pay for an Uber or two this week than to cancel classes and have to make them up evenings and/or Saturdays. My kids think it's absolutely hysterical that I finally signed up.

finish meal prep -lettuce for salads -chicken meatballs -carrots Meal plan for the week
Finish putting away clothes
Do 2 loads of laundry - don't have enough for a second load so "done" for now Start going through paperwork
Pack up belated xmas gift for LL to mail
Update my books read
I got my fireplace cleaned and inspected today and it was mostly good news. There's one panel that needs to be replaced because otherwise fire + cracks = destroys the house. That'll be another $360 to fix so it's going on my "later list" so I can budget for it before next winter. I mean, I've gone 9.5 years without a fire in the fireplace so it's not urgent by any means.
Few more clothes to put away and then it's paperwork time. My friend's gift is all packed up, I just need to add the card and get it to the post office.

startsmart we use our fireplace all the time, even in summer (albeit at night in summer). I joke that maintaining the fireplace is cheaper than buying shredders. We are obliged to have it swept once a year for insurance, which costs about $150/year. 16 - More grading - but I think I got all I can do from home done alreadyThen 15 instead, Saving4Norway . TheOtherMe have you had any more luck with selling your Beatles items on ebay? Well done for the magazines! I have not listed anything else. I have a better idea of what will and what will not sell. What is now at the curb will not get any interest--even though I never opened the boxes they came in. They were mailed to a house I lived in from 1986-1996, so you know how important I must have thought they were that I didn't even open the box. They were ugly Bradford Exchange plates that I paid maybe $9.99 for back then. I need to install the Uber app as I am planning on using it when I see the Eagles in March. I don't like driving at night anyway so I don't want to drive after a concert to the hotel. Looks like only two items left so #4

The bathroom remodel is going at a snail's pace. I've been focusing on paperwork instead. Since it's tax time, it does make a nice distraction.

One of the more productive weekdays I’ve had this latter half of January. And, I forgot to check the list, which is why the laundry floor isn’t crossed off. But I did super clean the outside of the fridge which wasn’t on the list. @@

debthaven - I'm lucky that I live in a rather warm environment here in California so although it does get cold, keeping the heat on low is fine most of the time. I also have small space heaters that I use when it's really cold. Here it was $180 for the inspection and cleaning but considering I spent $0 on this fireplace in the last 10 years it's not too expensive. I'll save up to do the repairs later this year.
I'm super close to starting my next DIY project! If I can get my neighbor to take a look at the shower stall then I'll begin demo this week.
