My girlfriend purged 73 items of clothing from her closet. I keep hanging onto to stuff I’ll never wear because I don’t have the life I had with DH. I need to face it and move on with purging. You have a different life, but you also have a significantly different climate which, if I recall correctly, you really wanted to go back to even with DH (but for other compelling reasons, you couldn't). Focus on the climate rather than the lifestyle change. I find that now that I'm in a much more temperate climate, even the seasonal clothes for the same lifestyle I had in a colder climate don't work anymore. Clothes are more colorful here, shoes are more likely open-toed, and it's just a different way of dressing. If the clothes from your old life are expensive clothes, there must be a consignment shop where you could take them. Now, with the snowbirds vacationing in your area, someone may buy the clothes because they're suited to a life "back home" in a more appropriate climate. For some very odd reason, when I moved I also took with me about half my suits (pantsuits and skirt suits). I donated the other half. I wore the occasional suit at my old job. I will NEVER wear a suit at this new job. I want to keep one pantsuit and one skirt suit. Since I'm doing Weight Watchers now, I'm not sure which pantsuit and skirt suit to hold onto. So I'm holding onto them all for now. (I'm strange.)

Got rid of more old toiletries. Holy hell, I had it stashed everywhere. I had no idea I had so much hidden away. Also glad we're not doing stockings with my MIL any more because I many hand sanitizers and body washes do I really need when I don't even use them in the first place? These are great to give to homeless shelters.

3 bags of recycling are in the car. I have one more to go. Utensils in the other cabinet. 15 boxes of tea moved to the drawer. Canned food on the next shelf and dry-boxed food on the bottom shelf.
It took me a while but I got it done. I pulled a muscle in my back reaching for something at work and haven't felt good since. I have been getting up at 6 to watch my grandson until 2 and then going to work until 10 with a 1 hour nap between.

I've managed to throw out a LOT of stuff the last several days. Tonight DD & I were going through all of the stuff in the bathroom vanity, and found more that we can do without. (The contractor is re-staining the finish, as time & steam has worn a lot of the finish off, but structurally it's still in good shape.) My current count is 399/2018.

Hi! Right now, I'm just keeping up with daily routines. Even weekly chores are bit of a stretch. Just lots of weird things happening, and, unfortunately, my reaction is to just hunker down.
Nice work on the purging!

Today I hope to start on our bedroom, I do go through my dresser drawers about every month or 2 and purge. My husbands chest of drawers is so full and heavy can hardly move it. He doesn't want me to pitch anything and he won't, probably half that stuff needs to go. I am getting ready to paint that room so lots of taping and prep work to do first. Here is something crazy. I washed and put all the red away in the bedroom, Xmas bedspread, red curtains, sheets, etc switching back to blue and white. Got my bedspread out of storage in the basement and cannot find my blue sheers anywhere. Now the crazy part, hubs doesn't even remember blue curtains in there, DD said she thinks she does. Now they have me unsure, I'm positive they were up before these, sigh. Whatever I can't find them, went through box after box down there. One thing this reinforces, its like the box of Christmas bedding, I listed every single thing in the box on the outside. I am going through every container over time down there and doing the same so at a glance I know. Yes I have lots of various sized, sheets, curtains, etc. So I went to the Wayfair site and found sales items and ordered new sheers for that room, they were inexpensive, but I know I have those somewhere unless I inadvertently put them in with give away stuff. The only real clutter in there is hubs pile of junk on top of his dresser, but still I'm sure I have some "stuff" that can be purged in there.

I remember it took me a long time to get rid of "work clothes" too. Nice suits and outfits I wore. Hubs finally said even if you go back to work you will likely want new clothes so one day I just did it, got rid of them. I have also purged almost all the pretty shoes I used to have. Still have a lot of athletic shoes I need to get rid of. I have bought every kind and variety and 90% of them I can't wear for very long, they need to go.

4 piles of boxes and paper recycling went on the curb last night for trash day today. Very happy to have those out of the kitchen. Now it will be easier to work on that end of the kitchen. The packing material is going next.

I am hauling "stuff" to the basement, I think next spring I will take it all to our house in town and have a garage sale. Should have done that with all I've given away, but I don't like yard sales.

Already to paint, receptacles off, all taped around, hubs helped move furniture. Likely get 3 walls done today and 4th tomorrow. Have to move the beds and hard to do with the room full of furniture.
Stopped for lunch, 2 pita pockets, stuffed with parmeson ham, spicy brown mustard, and lettuce, tomato and green onions.

I just did a massive amount of shredding, filled the shredder 3x, yikes. At least all that paper is out of the house. I am sure there is more I could find to shred without very much effort but every little bit helps. I also worked at getting rid of stuff on my side table in the office. The computer sits on what would be called a student desk, so there really isn't any room for writing etc, so I keep a smallish folding table next to my chair as kind of adjunct desk space.

Have 3 walls in the bedroom painted, hubs needs to move the beds in the morning so I can do the last wall. I am removing 2 cases that held pills we consolidated into one I get in by keypad so I'm not always having to track a key. Got rid of a few books and some hair junk, the room is going to look really nice, wish everything stayed clean once you have it decluttered and cleaned. Not a lot in there as I decluttered it not long ago. I am getting some kind of basket to put all hubs clutter from the top of his chest of drawers.

I've been spending my evenings working on my scrapbooking, which has been wonderfully calming. I've wanted to get the kids' scrapbooks caught up for years! I set up a folding table in my bedroom, so that I can work without having to clean it up/drag it back out every day. In the process of sorting through what I have saved, I have managed to organize it all and purge things I didn't really need to save.
Purge count for 2018- 140/2018
Goals for the next 3 days:
Clean out our SUV (much milder weather in the forecast, I need to take advantage of it) Take down the outside Christmas lights (again, take advantage of the nicer weather) Tackle our medicine cabinet and bathroom cabinet Work a little on the garage organization that we started last year. We ran out of warm weather so it kinda hit a stand still.

Spent extra time on bathroom faucets tonight. They were not looking good. Used a pumice stone on the water stain in the bath.
Seriously need to pick up stuff and find things to get rid of.

This weekend
- back up computer/Thurs - podiatrist/Fri - pick up package/Fri - see A?
Hoping to get DH to spend some time in the basement going through his mess there and/or the two big boxes he brought from the office. He promised to do it before DS1 arrives on 9 Feb but he'll be busy all next weekend.

This weekend: Niece2 basketball games Glad I looked this up-I thought they were playing in our county. I would have ended up driving 60 miles round trip for nothing. Attend a political meeting Laundry Dishes Scrub our master bathroom Tackle several Walsh challenges Meal prep for next week I'd like to get to the junk drawer and try the link idea above. It's a narrow drawer in the kitchen as opposed to a large one, so it should be relatively easy. I'll report back. Have a fantastic, blessed, relaxing weekend everyone.

So, DS2 went skiing with friends for a few days. He broke his clavicle today, badly. No surgery. He's being repatriated home tomorrow. We vaguely considered going but it's a 7h drive (one way).
I'll go grocery shopping tomorrow morning to make some of his favorites. His GF will be staying here too.
