YES!!! Way to go TheOtherMe . I am so very proud of how you stood up for yourself Sometimes the doghouse is the best place to be. Tell me again, please. I feel so guilty. It did feel good to stand up for myself. I keep telling myself she is a bully. She is. She told me her husband told her she was a bully.
I actually do have my own plans for tomorrow afternoon. My volleyball team play what could be it's last match of the season and the women's basketball team has a game. Both are online only, which means if I don't watch them live, I don't see them. In addition to the ridiculous response of "What about my shopping?", I'd trust his perspective also.

TheOtherMe I agree, your BIL is right, your sister IS a bully!!! But I honestly don't know if you'd prefer to be there or not, since you get on famously with her kids and grandkids. Only you can answer that. But your response about your Dad's hearing aids was PERFECT!!! Thank you NastyWoman and busymom! I had to work late tonight because one of the professors I teach needed to hand something in and I needed to edit it (didn't finish, we'll finish tomorrow at 11 on FT). We walked to the train/metro together and I told her the story and she said the EXACT same thing you did NastyWoman. Thank you for making me feel better. So my British DH has cooked the turkey and made not one, but TWO pumpkin pies, so I can take one to the parent-teacher conferences tomorrow. He is SUCH a keeper! One of the many things I am thankful for is my wonderful supportive fun and funny group of internet friends.

debthaven While I love my niece and three nephews, I prefer seeing them one on one. I'm going to try to contact the nephew who doesn't come home to see his parents. Your DH is a keeper! I am thankful for all the support I receive here. It does make me feel better. I can't say this stuff on FB because family will see it. It helps to get it off my chest. When sister originally told me about the appointment for Black Friday for dad, she said she thought Black Friday was a national holiday. I hope she was kidding. I know it's none of my business, but I don't go to her Christmas gatherings because of the thousands and thousands of dollars worth of stuff that will fill their entire living room. Sometimes there are presents to be brought out from the garage or a bedroom because they didn't fit in the living room. I am not talking about just under the tree. The gifts fill up the entire living room. I can't stand to watch it. I hope things are better now that the grandkids are older and no longer are finished playing with toys before they leave Grandma's house.

It was just 4 of us but we had a wonderful Thanksgiving. Unfortunately this week is not over yet, phone call with my boss at 10.30, FT with the professor I teach at 11, one class, then 5h of Parent-teacher conferences. So I'm not there yet, but I'm getting close.
My boss wants me to take on another class next semester, AFTER I gave a class up. I'm channeling Amy Winehouse and saying NO NO NO. I told her by email I *MIGHT* consider taking that class, but *ONLY* if I can give up another class instead. So she wants us to talk. (She's on the main campus 3h away so I only see her a few times a year.)

Happy thanksgiving all! I will post more at another time, I still have company, but I am just so excited. DD cleaned her room! She hauled out 3 garbage bags of clutter. It is in the garbage can, I refuse to go through it.
Tomorrow’s missions. 1) Try to figure out why it smells like a dead mouse in my office. 2) Put up outdoor/indoor X/mas decorations. 3)Shop?
I bought new area rugs for dining room and entryway. Moving table in & out was a project!
We still need to clean up garage too.

Hi Kids! I hope you all enjoyed a good Thanksgiving. We'll be spending the weekend decluttering the house of turkey & pie leftovers... Late last night I found a gift that DD would like for Christmas on Target's website, so I went ahead & ordered it.

The rain has finally knocked most of the smoke out of the air! Our air quality index went from 257 all the way down to 31! I haven’t even left the house today, I don’t like it when companies force their employees to work so I refuse to go shop. Exceptions like nurses, firefighters and police get overtime pay at least!
I made a beef stew today that should las time until it’s time to leave on vacation. Still should clean out and scrub the fridge but that might be a task for the weekend.
Another few hundred photos done while I caught up on Netflix and relaxed in my pjs all day. This not traveling thing is great!

Well, I had my windows measured this morning for window treatments/blinds. They'll be emailing the prices this afternoon, and I'm expecting to get hit (again) with sticker shock. But, it's gotta be done, so it WILL be done. If I go with honeycomb blinds in the bedrooms, they should be in, and installed before Christmas, but, if I do wood/plantation shutters in the kitchen, those won't be ready for a couple of months.

Dad's phone isn't working this morning. The thought did cross my mind that sister took him to town early and left him at one of her kids' houses. That would have made me angry because she didn't tell me.
That didn't happen. All three handsets say "no line". I unplugged each from the phone line and wall outlet. No line. When I got home I called the provider. Should be fixed by 6 PM on November 25.
Sent sister a text. She was all nicey nice about it. Lots of please and thank yous.
Now it's time for volleyball.

Still working on decluttering our home... living in 1,120 sqft make it tough... but we will manage.
Plan Monday/Tuesday is the shed and winterize outsize then move inside.

Semester countdown: 13/15 weeks done!No marking this weekend! Unfortunately I am working an extra half-day next week. This weekend - laundry/Sat - bottle bank/Sat A's sons are organizing a surprise birthday party for her. That's ALL I'm doing this weekend.
Spoke to my boss today. I WILL take that extra class if it opens, because it's "mine", I designed it. IF that happens, I will give up another class instead. We are both happy with that.

Volleyball team lost. Their fate is now in the hands of the NCAA Committee. Not a good place to be.
Basketball team won, so I was not shut out today.
Tomorrow I leave for 3 days. I will see David Crosby tomorrow, hopefully be able to stream basketball on Sunday, read, compress, watch it snow on Sunday.
I will come home on Tuesday.
I will fill up with gas on the way home as gas is about 20 cents a gallon cheaper than here.

Today has been a busy day and it isn't over yet. Did a quick black Friday run to Home Depot, what a zoo, but I got what I went after. One of the doorbusters was a wet/dry shop vac, that is what DSIL will be getting for Christmas. They were such a good deal that I bought one for myself too. Over the years I have had the need for a good shop vac. Then it was off to get the car serviced at 8am. Left there and stopped at Mom's since she had asked for help putting away the Thanksgiving dishes in the upper cupboard. Came home and was taking things out to the trash and notice a screw in my tire. I would like to know how the car dealership could have rotated my tires 1 1/2 hours previously and not noticed a screw.

I ended up posting mid thought because DD showed up with pizza. After the car dealership fiasco I painted two more of my doors. Right now 5 doors are completely done and just one more needs the second coat of paint. There is hope. DD and DSIL came over to help move the piano, stereo and TV out of the living room in preparation for getting new carpet. That doesn't happen until the first week of December but my hope is to get the living room painted before then.

I'm still smiling because dad can hear and understand what is being said to him.
Sister did say the doctor's office said to get the batteries from Amazon for $15 as opposed to them for $50. I do like businesses that help customers save money.
I took a bag of trash to my trash can this morning. Trash day is Tuesday but I won't be home. It's supposed to snow and be very windy so trash will sit in garage until a week from Monday. I will have a full trash can by then.

My husband has been procrastinating on putting away his clean clothes. I keep doing more laundry and it just gets higher and higher. If I wash one more pair of underpants, the whole thing will topple.

Todays plan is some general housework, get the last door painted (YAY) and start painting the living room and hallway ceiling. I am also supposed to do a meet up mid-day with someone who interested in buying the baskets left from DD's wedding. She is a real flake so I wouldn't be surprised if she doesn't show. I did send her a message today reminding her of the meet up.

At last after almost 25 years of marriage, I have decided not to care about how the house looks and let things stay where they are. If something goes bad in the kitchen, then it goes. It has been really freeing for the past 2 days. I have also stopped folding clothes except mine. Don't know how long it is going to last, but it's been helpful for my sanity.

They provided batteries in exchange for the ones returned from the previous pair and a new box. The chain that he went to before provided a year's worth of free batteries.

My doors are finally all painted. I cleaned up the paint and was getting ready to go meet someone for a FB sale and she flaked. At least she let me know although I suspect that the only reason she notified me is because I sent her a reminder this morning. Now the question is do I break out a different roller and brush and continue painting or take care of some other things.

Empty the fridge and scrub it well
Finish up the dishes tonight Clean the kitchen counters
Finish my laundry and put it all away
Organize candles and put them away Really clean the guest bath Finish packing for vacation
Find wherever I put the dog sweaters Install a shelf in the garage Work on shite pile in the office
Touch up paint in my bedroom

Sharon, congratulations for getting the door done! Sorry the woman flaked.... startsmart, good job going to the gym. I worked out for the first time in a long time this morning and feel wonderful! Bet that stew turned out great! TheOtherMe, so glad your dad found hearing aids that are a good match. My mom found a pair not too long ago and it's made a world of difference to her and everyone around her. Keep us posted on the carnage, thyme4change. That's quite the pile, LOL! What a fantastic four day weekend it's been! There's a storm outside, and they're saying to expect up to a foot of snow. It makes it so warm and cozy inside. College football is on, and I just put another apple crisp in the Crock Pot since DH didn't get any at Thanksgiving dinner. Laundry is going, and the tree is up. DH actually helped with the ornaments this year, LOL. He's heading off to finish processing the buck he took a few weeks ago and I'll finish decorating the main floor before cocktail hour.

Iggy aka IG I hope these hearing aids improve the quality of his life. He won't have to have the television set to the highest volume it has so I'm sure his neighbors will be happy about that. Nobody in senior living can complain about television, imo. I hear them when I walk in the door. They are all very loud. Hopefully, dad will now be able to carry on conversations instead of having to talk to him in one or two words at a time. There hasn't been a way to talk to him for so long. I've arrived in the city where my concert will be held tonight. I think the band gets out of town on a bus as soon as the concert is over. There is supposed to be a snow storm here with 4-8 inches of snow and wind. I will hole up in the hotel. At least this hotel has a restaurant. I didn't put up any Christmas decorations before I left because the cleaning people are coming on Wednesday. I will get it out after they leave. I don't put up much but I don't want to get it out and put it away in just a few days.
