Interesting how a person can fool the world with fake reviews. How one man turned an imaginary restaurant in his garden shed into London’s most sought-after dining experience.A BRITISH journalist has turned an imaginary restaurant in his backyard into London’s most sought-after dining experience by writing fake reviews on Trip Advisor. Oobah Butler, who specialises in blagging his way into situations and then writing about it, wanted to expose the epidemic of fakery on the internet’s most trusted review site. Butler had experienced the power of the site first-hand, having once earned a healthy living writing positive reviews for restaurant owners at £10 (AUD17) a pop. “Over time, I became obsessed with monitoring the ratings of these businesses. Their fortunes would genuinely turn, and I was the catalyst,” he wrote in an article for VICE. ”One day, sitting in the shed I live in, I had a revelation: within the current climate of misinformation, and society’s willingness to believe absolute bullshit, maybe a fake restaurant is possible? Maybe it’s exactly the kind of place that could be a hit? “In that moment, it became my mission. With the help of fake reviews, mystique and nonsense, I was going to do it: turn my shed into London’s top-rated restaurant on TripAdvisor.” And so the “The Shed at Dulwich” was born, an exclusive eatery with just a street name for an address, that was almost always fully booked when you rang to make a reservation. Nikki Haley was pranked about fake country. Nikki Haley, the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, purportedly assured Poland's Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki that America is "closely watching" Russia's interference in Binomo's recent elections. There are only two problems with that sentence: Haley wasn't talking to Morawiecki, and Binomo isn't a real country. www.newsweek.com/nikki-haley-pranked-russian-comedians-poland-763565Yes, of course you're familiar with it. Yes, of course you're watching it very closely. Lol!

Trump was going to drain the swamp and get the smartest people to work for him. Now I see his definition of smart is on his level of ignorance. He's having trouble getting people to work for him. The highest rate of people quitting in the first year and many key positions unfilled.

The highest rate of people quitting in the first year and many key positions unfilled. See, there's a real reason for wetlands aka the swamp. They buffet strong tidal flows from tearing up the coast and river banks. I think this analogy is especially important today to keep perspective of the radical changes whipsawing the nation.
Build more wetlands!

Tennesseer Sorry we hijacked your thread. I did enjoy your article. Well, it IS about people falling for fake things. Haley is Ambassador to the United Nations. I would think she would know which nations are actually real. But no..........she only sputters "The US won't be pushed around anymore!" through tightly clenched teeth. (I enjoyed your article as well, Tenn)

Oy. We're a gullible lot, aren't we? I mostly use TripAdvisor to get a sense of what my hotel and restaurant choices are in a particular area to which I have never been, not to stay/eat at the highest ranking locations. It is particularly helpful in that regard when trying to find a restaurant the kids can safely eat at regardless of the latest food glam. So, we usually end up at a pricey steakhouse -- often one of the chains -- where they can get a simply prepared steak made to order and a baked potato baked in foil. We've never considered ordering peppered shaving cream or prankster's feet, regardless of any rave "reviews". And, if a Marriott is listed as a local hotel, that's where I'm staying. But, then, I've never been one to pursue the "latest and greatest".
