I'm confused. Was there actually someone embedded, or did they just send that one guy to drink with that blabbermouth? one guy to talk with the blabbermouth. Which is how investigations generally work. And which is why I think conspiracies are a bunch of hokum. Nobody can keep their pie hole shut.

Especially when there are people like Papadopoulos who like to get drunk in bars and blabber to people who turn out to be Australian government employees, who become concerned enough about the 'dirt gathering from the Russians' remarks to contact the American authorities.
Too many drunken tools eager to brag about their role in shaping the destiny of the planet to strangers.

The relevant questions (still not answered yet) are - if Comey and Obama and the Clintons and all of the DOJ were all conspiring to keep Trump out of office, why did Comey announce 10 days before the election that they found more Clinton emails - and why did Comey not announce 10 days before the election that they suspected Russia was meddling in the US election in order to help Trump win? Can the Dark Heart/Black Head DeepThroat conspiracy be so all powerful it they can't even conspire to defeat one of the most blatantly unpopular candidates in our history? Instead, Comey and the FBI pretty much handed the election to Trump on a platter. Why did Obama sit silently in the Oval Office after the FBI had informed him and the Trump campaign about the potential Russian meddling? Seems he could have easily leaked that information (hell, he could have given it to any Trump staffer and it would have been headlining the evening news, based on how easily Trump's admin leaks shit). Instead, this incompetent conspirator said nothing public at all, and Trump got elected. Until you can explain successfully these big plot holes in your elaborately pieced together (but weak) conspiracy plot, it's bullshit, regardless of all the little threads you're trying to combine together into a whole. Comey has stated outright in his book tour that he thought Hillary's victory was inevitable and that talking about the emails earlier would let the story die and have less effect on her presidency. If Obama had leaked information about the Russia thing, he would also be admitting that he was using the government to spy on an opposition candidate. Remember, at that time, they were saying Trump was a crazy conspiracy theorist for claiming that he was being wiretapped. There would have been a huge backlash if they had admitted such things. True. I would add that Comey cares mainly about Comey. And this was a CYA move. I can't prove this. I readily admit it is conjecture- but it's not that big a stretch: I think that Comey-- rightly or wrongly-- was led to believe that the Trump spying operation might get blown; or perhaps it was a CYA move JIC the scandal got blown wide open-- and they wanted to do this to provide a retort if they were ever challeged on the Trump spying. And you gotta admit- if that's the case: it worked.

I'm confused. Was there actually someone embedded, or did they just send that one guy to drink with that blabbermouth? No one embedded, that's another Trump hyperbolic 'truth' (which means, a lie).
The DOJ hired an international policy guy (who has spent his career working for Republicans, by the way) to talk to 2 or 3 of the guys who were associated with the Trump campaign but who also had been on the DOJ radar for previous activities working closely with Russia. The guy was not a 'spy' and did not use 'spycraft' to try to break into their laptops or read their mail - he arranged to talk to them for an hour or so, that was it.
I'm 100% certain the DOJ has done this in the past and will do it in the future if they sniff out some campaign worker with a possibly questionable motive for joining the campaign. Just like they compile dossiers on any members of far left, far right, or other types of radical organizations operating in our country, and keep tabs on where they are and what they're doing. You're wrong about this. www.investors.com/politics/editorials/did-obama-spy-on-trump/

Do you even know what 'journalism' is? Because you keep posting shit from non-journalistic sources as if it was anything more than one guy's opinion, typed up and posted on the internet.
I don't give a shit what this guy's opinion is, unless I want to know what stock I should invest in - but I've have to pay him for that.
Here is a tip - when trying to persuade people to come over to your way of thinking, only present them with facts. Facts they can independently fact check for themselves. Not something someone typed when he was bored of watching stocks one day.

I would be less concerned about the musings of some stock-watcher than I am the fact that IBD allows right-wing or right-leaning lobbyists and PR hacks to write some of their articles. They are not known for balance.

You don't know how anyone could believe it, and yet you believe there's a vast Trump-Russia conspiracy. I have news for you- real news- there's a helluva lot more evidence for spygate than there is for the Russia hoax. I've posted LOTS of it here. The fact that you consciously choose to ignore it explains why you don't understand those of us who've drawn the obvious conclusion. Blogs from the Conservative Nuthouse aren't "evidence". it also depends on what you think the Russia scandal is. to reiterate: 1) nobody denies at this juncture that the Russians interfered in our election 2) nobody denies that they did so to benefit the president and hurt Clinton therefore: 3) going after Clinton, the DNC, or Obama is "prosecuting the victim" vis-a-vis the election the parties who benefitted the most from the mischief should be investigated. that is how it is supposed to work, anyway. anything else is, essentially, DEFENDING the criminal conduct of Russia and beneficiaries of their work here in the US.
these facts are all undeniable. and watch: nobody will deny them. instead they will gin up some ALLEGED crimes which have little to no evidence as a smoke screen for the real ones. shame on them.

The behavior of the deep state is itself incriminating. But what's deeply disturbing is that the continued blatantly transparent and open criminality of the cover-up activities is so serious one wonders what makes it worth the risk? Spygate is proven. What remains is uncovering what it was really all about? My educated guess based upon intelligence guided by experience is that we're talking a level of criminality and abuse of power on the part of the Obama regime, Clinton State Department and the intelligence community that rises to the level of treason. I think everything centers around the truth about which insider stole and released the information from those DNC servers, what's in Hillary's emails-- where Hillary's emails are and that whole cover-up (c'mon- they were not all about yoga and wedding planning and they ARE NOT GONE. Someone's got them. We know there was a conspiracy to clear Hillary of the gross negligence in her mishandling of classified information-- and we know she had a private server in the first place to conceal her ongoing, routine abuses of power. We know she defied a subpoena and committed this series of open and obvious crimes, including lying to congress because what's in those emails is far worse than anything she's done to conceal their contents. My belief is that it's a foreign entity and MANY MANY people in our government are CURRENTLY being blackmailed with that information-- this is again, based on intelligence guided by experience. We know the FBI / DOJ et al never (to this day) examined the DNC servers. We know the information on them was likely stolen by the Pakistani hackers employed by the DNC and that blackmail is their modus operandi. We know it wasn't the Russians. And we have Julian Assange supporting the physical evidence (download rate which suggests on-site theft of data). I think this is all VERY serious. I think the entire United States government is compromised. I think we've been infiltrated by other countries, by communists foreign and domestic, by terrorist entities and individuals. I think people across the spectrum and at the highest levels are being blackmailed right now-- and I think all of this was the result of the incompetence, naivette and outright complicity of Obama. Couple it with his penchant for operating like a tin pot dictator in some banana republic, and you've got one giant mess. Remember: NOTHING OF THE RUSSIA COLLUSION investigation ever passed through "Five Eyes". There was no intelligence community basis for the spying and investigating. This is not disputed by anyone. theconservativetreehouse.com/2018/05/30/trey-gowdys-recent-activity-highlights-deep-state-action-against-devin-nunes/

Spygate deniers can't get around this:
The origin of the 2016 counterintelligence operation, which was specifically started by CIA Director John Brennan sharing his ‘raw intelligence product’ with the FBI, was not an official product of the U.S. intelligence community. According to Devin Nunes information Brennan was NOT using official partnerships with intelligence agencies of our Five-Eyes partner nations; and he did not provide raw intelligence -as an outcome of those relationships- to the FBI.
QUESTION: Then what exactly did John Brennan brief the Gang-of-Eight on? On May 23rd, 2017, Former CIA Director John Brennan gave very specific testimony to congress where he noted he provided the raw intelligence to FBI Director Comey – FULLSTOP. We now know Stefan Halper was part of the group assembling that raw intelligence. All of it was, as Nunes outlined, “through unofficial channels”.
Listen carefully to the opening statement from former CIA Director John Brennan May 23rd, 2017, during his testimony to congress. Pay very close attention to the segment at 13:35 of this video of Brennan’s testimony:

I don't want to get into to the Lygate rabbit hole. Here's a link showing the subcommittees. One is for the CIA. Nunes is a known toady of Trump and has done several questionable things including excluding the Democrats and stopping the Russia investigation on his end.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_House_Permanent_Select_Committee_on_Intelligence In 2017, the committee was tasked along with the SSCI to determine the degree of Russian interference in 2016 US elections.[3] The committee also has been investigating allegations of wiretapping of President Donald Trump as well as ties between Russian officials and members of Donald Trump's presidential campaign.[4][5] The committee has come under intense scrutiny in 2017-2018 due to allegations of partisanship and leaks of classified information by members of the committee and their staff. In March 2018, the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 elections was abruptly ended by the committee's Republican members despite the assertion by Democratic members that the investigation was incomplete and had failed to properly go about gathering pertinent information. Notably, House Intelligence Republicans released a draft of their investigatory report which broke in some areas from the findings of the U.S. Intelligence Community and was written without the input of House Democrats.[6][7] In the wake of bitter divides in the committee's findings, House Intelligence Republican congressman Tom Rooney claimed the committee had "lost all credibility" and had become "a political forum for people to leak information to drive the day's news."[8]

The inescapable fact is that the Democratic Party is potentially a criminal enterprise in all of this. That means Republicans have a unique duty to protect the integrity of the investigation into Democrat abuse of power and corruption of the federal government for partisan purposes.

So, James Comey felt it urgent to sit President Trump down and show him the fake phony dossier he knew to be bought and paid for with money laundered by the Hillary Clinton campaign through a law firm and assembled by agents of foreign governments- British and Russian that we know of, but Director Comey did NOT feel it important to warn President Trump that there could be foreign infiltrators in his campaign?
Sorry, but this is all bullshit.
They were spying.
They thought Hillary was going to win- and they became so confident in their belief that Hillary was going to win that they thought they could do whatever they wanted and Hillary would cover it up. When they lost, they had a nightmare scenario on their hands and everything that has transpired since the election to spy on and undermine Trump's election victory has been done in large part to cover their tracks.
Ben Rhodes might have been thinking "We're all fucked" on election night.
Gowdy? Crookeder than a dog's hind leg- and I've been saying this for a year now.

Time to recap where we are today-- and remind my critics they've answered, rebutted, debunked, nor refuted a single word of this. Ready? Read: 1. Two main FBI players on the case, Peter Strzok and Lisa Page didn’t just favor Clinton, they hated Trump’s guts. Among other things, he referred to Donald Trump as an idiot. Even then, Strzok said of Russia he didn’t think there was any “big there, there.” SOURCE: USA TODAY: www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2018/01/23/fbis-peter-strzok-trump-inquiry-maybe-most-important-case-our-lives/1058808001/One Text Strzok sent to Page reads: "I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office — that there’s no way he gets elected — but I'm afraid we can’t take that risk. It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you're 40." (The "Andy" in question is former Deputy Director of the FBI, Andrew McCabe who was fired and has been referred by the Inspector General for criminal prosecution for lying to investigators and authorizing leaks to the media) Other text messages reveal Strzok had a personal relationship with Obama appointed U.S. District Court Judge Rudolph Contreras who we now know approved the FISA warrants based on the fake phony Hillary Clinton bought and paid for with money laundered through a law firm and prepared by foreign government agents "dossier" also originally presided over Flynn's case before being recused. Both were on Mueller's "Russia" team before being exposed as crusading anti-Trumpers. Lisa Page resigned in disgrace (likely resigned in lieu of being fired): nypost.com/2018/05/05/lisa-page-fbi-agent-who-bashed-trump-in-texts-resigns/Peter Strzok was demoted, and is likely cooperating with the IG, or AG Sessions' "outside prosecutor" John Huber in lieu of being fired and prosecuted. You will me so far?

Time to recap where we are today-- and remind my critics they've answered, rebutted, debunked, nor refuted a single word of this. Ready? Read: (Continued) 2. The FBI attempted on at least two occasions to obtain a FISA warrant from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, relying on the aforementioned fake phony Clinton bought and paid for dossier and they were turned down. Rabid anti-Trumper Peter Strzok with the help of his mistress, Lisa Paige planned a small dinner with his personal friend, Rudolph Contreras, one of the judges on the FISC. The next request for a warrant to spy on members of the Trump team was approved by Contrareas. As noted previously, Contreras also presided over Special Counsel Robert Mueller's prosecution of General Flynn and accepted Flynn's plea deal. Shortly after, and before Flynn could be sentenced, Contreras was abruptly removed from the case. The story is he "recused himself", but that does not seem likely given the circumstances and the state of the investigation of the investigation at the time. Mueller has cited the "status of the probe" in requesting a delay in sentencing Flynn which the new Judge, Emmit G. Sullivan agreed to grant. Judge Sullivan has also ordered Mueller to hand over to Flynn all exculpatory evidence in his possession. Sullivan took a further extraordinary step. In case of doubt whether evidence might be helpful to Flynn, he ordered Mueller to submit it to the judge for his personal review. In other words- submit it all, and Judge Sullivan will determine its exculpatory value. thehill.com/policy/national-security/374730-judicial-order-in-flynn-case-prompts-new-round-of-scrutinyyated.com/17263-2/Meanwhile, it is reported the FBI agents (including Strozk) who interviewed Flynn stated that he did NOT believe he had been deceptive in the interview. They did not intend to pursue him and James Comey had advised Congress of that fact. The reversal came from higher up in the DOJ: www.washingtonexaminer.com/byron-york-comey-told-congress-fbi-agents-didnt-think-michael-flynn-liedNone of this has anything to do with my or anyone else's "imagination" In fact, right now the Russiagate investigation is imaginary. It's over. The Spygate actors are jockeying for the better deal and/or bunkmates in federal prison right now Stay with me.

Time to recap where we are today-- and remind my critics they've answered, rebutted, debunked, nor refuted a single word of this. Ready? Read: (Continued) 3. The radical alt-left DNC propaganda media didn't utter a word about the didn’t report on the Clinton fake dossier because none of it could be verified. They had no "legitimate" news excuse to report on it. So, James Comey arranged to brief the president- something he's described as his "assignment" (which is odd language and has yet to be inquired about nor explained). Comey, who has since testified that they needed to spy on the Trump campaign to protect Trump from foreign agents said of the counterfeit intelligence document he knew to be bought and paid for by Hillary Clinton's campaign and assembled by British intelligence agent Christopher Steele with the help of Russian agents, "We thought it was important that he knew — and I say, 'we,' meaning all the intelligence chiefs that put together the intelligence community assessment — because we knew, and we don't want to be holding that back from the new president,". Odd that James Comey did not feel it equally important to advise Trump of what he claims was real intelligence indicating the Russians were trying to infiltrate or had infiltrated the Trump campaign. Once President Trump was briefed, the dossier was given an air of legitimacy- by design- and then leaked to the press. Of course, the press led with the salacious bits about Russian prostitutes peeing on beds. Of course nothing in the "dossier" has been proved and we've since learned that there was NO INTELLIGENCE COMMUNITY BASIS FOR THE RUSSIA INVESTIGATION: www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2018/04/22/devin_nunes_on_origins_of_fbis_russia_probe.html

I've refuted, you are just using Trump's playbook and denying truth.
Its odd you keep posting as if Trump wasn't warned about Russians wanting to infiltrate his campaign in his first briefing as the GOP candidate. The fact that Trump and his GOP enablers apparently did nothing of value with that info in regards to his campaign, does not make them look good. Or clean. There's a saying, when you point a finger at someone, three fingers are pointing back at you.

Mr. DeSantis is asking the same questions I'd ask and making the same assertions I'd make. For the love of sweet snowy leopards, Mr. Comey et al., admit the operation was about Pres. Trump. Rip the Band-Aid off all at once.
Rep. Goudy and YMAM holdouts: you'll reap what you sow. One day soon, FBI Director X or Pres. Y is going to unleash the US intelligence beast to "protect" and destroy the candidate you support, without oversight, based on a shady and hopelessly conflicted operation, and when you rightly cry 'Abuse!', the resounding answer will be: "We're doing exactly what Americans expect us to do: protect America." Do you expect the Conservative Tree House will be running headlines, "Spygate 2.0! Republicans Have Gone Too Far"? I didn't think so. They'll be the ones wringing their hands, opining that everything was done in good faith for the good of the American people, it's unpatriotic to assert otherwise. If not for you, the administration will act with impunity. But how can you rail against abuse of power then if you're eager to tolerate it now? Who will take you seriously? America doesn't need this kind of "protection". America needs light, transparency, and forthrightness in government, now more than ever.

"YMAM holdouts: you'll reap what you sow. One day soon, FBI Director X or Pres. Y is going to unleash the US intelligence beast to "protect" and destroy the candidate you support, without oversight, based on a shady and hopelessly conflicted operation, and when you rightly cry 'Abuse!', the resounding answer will be: "We're doing exactly what Americans expect us to do: protect America.""
Virgil, you've drunk the koolaid. Guess who was first told about possible Russian interference because the intelligence said it was coming? I'll give you a hint, it was before both candidates won their respective parties. The DNC was told to expect hacking, and they ignored it. They were later told information on the networks was being sent back to Russia from their computers. Nothing. Then Podesta was hacked.
Did the DNC paint themselves as victims of the FBI or whatever agency? No. But they did share one thing with Trump's campaign, the unwillingness to act on intelligence they were given. That doesn't make either of them victims. Just stupid. Possibly knowingly stupid.
The intelligence community was trying to protect US interests which *shock!* included both campaigns. And perhaps you can point me to where Trump was destroyed. Because what I see is a whiny duplicitious man who won the Presidency. His guilty cohorts were taken down after he became President, therefore not hurting his ability to win. Contrast this with vague comments about potential new Hillary emails 10 days before the election. There was some destruction, but it wasn't on Donald.

Doing something stupid, knowing it might bite you in the ass.

I don't know what the CTH people would say. I'd like to think that they, like me, would be warning-- as I have been since W's whole "Patriot Act" came into being-- that we need to seriously reign in government.

As I've said repeatedly, the Trump-Russia investigation is a cover-up operation, and it is effectively over. www.realclearinvestigations.com/articles/2018/05/26/the_maltese_phantom_of_russiagate_.htmlYou will have to actually click the link and read the article below because it's full of VERY interesting observations-- and mind you-- NONE of what is written here is in dispute. If Mifsud is a Russian agent, he's one of the most pernicious spies to ever infiltrate the United States. Yet there has been zero public outcry from the Russiagate conspiracy theorists, and no official calls for his arrest. To me this is the biggest dog that didn't bark in the whole spygate scandal.
