Aw shucks. Thanks. It's actually more than that but I forget how many now. I have it in my sobriety datebook at home. Along with my stickers that I give myself each day. Oh wise ones, my niece is getting married next month and I am quite positive there will be champagne for the toast. Should I or shouldn't I? I'm thinking no. Only because I know myself and would try to drink the bar dry. EYA: I'm a little more behind than I thought. I am at 262 days today!

Congratulations! (Just for the record, I'm not a big fan of champagne. Not worth breaking your streak over.)

How about toasting the happy couple with ginger ale? Then at least you get bubbles.

That is actually my plan. I figure I'll bring a bottle, just in case.

Good job! Drink ginger ale, kombucha, sparkling cider, etc. There’s plenty of other fizzy drinks to be had.

I know others already said no to you not partaking in the champagne.. Here's why you shouldn't: Relapses suck. There's nothing good about them. And the 2 minutes of drinking the champagne will not be worth the risk of relapsing.

I heard somewhere--probably on the radio--that the bubbles in champagne actually get you drunk faster.

Congratulations from me, too! My Ex lost everything important to him because of his drinking and it eventually killed him. Sobriety is good news.
Champagne toasts are overrated. Typically they have the glasses filled and on that tables before the couple even arrives so by the time you actually drink it it's lukewarm and has started to go flat. You're far better off bringing a bottle of Perrier.

Congratulations on the good choices!
No, no champagne. I agree with the previous posters and think that you should bring some guaranteed non-alcoholic beverage for the toast, and stay away from anything that has more alcohol than tap water. Your well-being, short-term and long-term, is worth so immensely much more than a glass of whatever!

Congrats, Empress.
After watching my BIL's struggles with alcohol, no champagne at the wedding. After 30 years of sobriety, he doesn't allow alcohol in the house.

I agree with the others about no champagne. I come from a long line of alcoholics and have seen firsthand the struggles and relapses. Don't do it. Take along the non-alcoholic beverage of your choice if you wish to toast the happy couple.

I, too, vote No for the Champaigne. There shouldn't be much peer pressure to sip/drink the glass of champainge -- I'm assuming this toast will occur for more than just immediate family (ie all the other wedding guests while at their assigned tables.
I've witnessed plenty of people raise their champaine glass and then NOT drink it. With no disrespect meant to the toasters or toastees.
Doing a swap of ginger ale or even just water is pretty easy at a wedding.
Besides - it's not about the champaigne (it's not magical) ... it's about wishing the Bride and Groom well and you can do that without alcohol.

He can have the alcohol, he won't be walking anyway.
