UPDATE : YOU ALL NEED TO CHANGE YOUR IMAGES OVER TO ANOTHER IMAGE HOSTING SITE
I got a threatening email from them that cause I was taking my time getting their images off my Forums UM they threatened to Block me from PhotoBucket. I've been off of PhotoBucket since June 30th. I have no account with them.
So people get your images downloaded from there and uploaded elsewhere, otherwise you could be BLOCKED from getting your pictures

Personally I don't have anything stored on Photobucket... but that's good information for anyone that does... I appreciate you passing it on!

I also got a threatening email from them. It caught me off guard, because like you, I have already stopped using their service.

The five stages of "free" image hosting: - Company with questionable business model offers free image hosting. Initial client base is techies wanting online photo storage.
- New users pile in, adding not only photos for storage but also avatars, memes, screenshots, images for sharing, and all manner of detritus. Host servers frequently go offline as the parent company struggles to cope with increasing storage and bandwidth demands.
- Client base grows exponentially while revenues plateau. Company realizes in a panic that freeloaders are using their servers as a de facto CDN, hosting anything and everything. In a desperate attempt to stem demand, strict request limits are put on all images. "Bandwidth exceeded" image placeholders abound. Freeloaders grumble loudly about the substandard performance of their free services.
- Freeloader-to-paying-customer ratio exceeds a critical threshold and the company begins to burn cash. In a last-ditch attempt to remain solvent, company issues ultimatum to freeloaders: pay up now or lose your images. Freeloaders rage.
- Freeloaders migrate en masse to new "free" image hosting site. The company shrinks to a tiny fraction of its former size, retaining only paying clients.
Rinse, lather, repeat ad infinitum. |

I've received two emails from photobucket now.
I've deleted from photobucket what I know has a link from photobucket posted here.
The problem is that I don't necessarily remember all of them.
Sigh. This is damned annoying. Why can't they just go forward with their plan instead of asking for what's been done in the past to be cleaned up. (I do realize that no one here has that answer

So on October 10th I got another email from CrapBucket Support, I clicked on no more emails from them and blocked their email addy.
The email was showing me all the nice new going ons with CrapBucket, but I don't care and I haven't cared since last June.
