What to do, where to eat? We've done the landmarks except for 9/11 memorial.

Maybe post this in YM OT might get more attention. I forget sometimes to check the travel thread. I have no suggestion since last I was in NY was in the 80's although I want to go back. I'm no help am I?

Any plans for the 9/11 memorial? It's impressive. Also have you done statue of liberty? I hadn't done that until two years ago, it was really cool.
I've had some suuuuper good ramen at a Korean place in Chelsea Market... tons of shops and good food in there, get down there if you can.
Tree at Rockefeller Center may not be lit by then but look it up. Bryant Park has a nice Christmas vendor fair but I don't know what weekend it starts so look that up too.

I want to see the memorial. We've done the typical tourist spots. I wanted to go to the museum of natural history.

One of the things I want to see besides 9/11 memorial is the The High Line. I'm a nature nut so I think I would enjoy this. I did a lot of the things most tourist do when there. We also got tickets to Dream Girls - hey I said it was long ago but had to do one show on Broadway while there. www.yelp.com/biz_photos/the-high-line-new-york

Oh the High Line is great! Forgot about that. We walked a section of that 3 or 4 years ago when we did a daytrip with a friend.

Zibazinski-look for some of the smaller museums or libraries to visit. For example, for work purposes, I and a co-worker traveled to Newark, NJ to visit some of our employees there. We had some down time and at the time of the trip I still had a subscription to New York magazine. I found out there would be an exhibition of illuminated manuscripts and bibles at the Morgan Library and Museum at Madison Ave and 36th streets. The illuminated manuscripts and bibles were from the period of 1000-1200 CE (AD). Included works were from Europe and Ethiopia. So we went there to the exhibition. Glad I went. The Morgan Library and Museum currently has an exhibition on Magnificent Gems: Medieval Treasure Bindings Magnificent Gems: Medieval Treasure Bindings Exhibition runs now through January 7. Also, if you are interested in medieval architecture and art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art has a branch at the Cloisters Museum in upper Manhattan. Well worth the visit if you are interested in that sort of thing (I am). The Met - The Cloisters

Can you open the link I posted. If not google it. I saw a blip on some show some time ago. Probably PBS on how it came to be. Something I would like to see if I make it back to NY.

From Wiki - The High Line is a 1.45-mile-long elevated linear park, greenway and rail trail. It was created on a former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_Line

We’re staying at the Hilton Garden on W 35th street. It seemed a good location

I've eaten at Wolfgang's Steakhouse at 33rd and Park a couple of times when I'm there for meetings, and always enjoyed the food. It's not far from your hotel: www.wolfgangssteakhouse.net/

Have you been to the Intrepid? It'll be cold, but seeing a space shuttle is fun, as well as the other planes they have.

I LOVE the Museum of Natural History. I've been there many times, and still haven't seen it all.

The Bryant Park fair opens this weekend, and runs for about a month, so it will be open. The High Line is super, super crowded. You can walk it to Chelsea Market though, which is a great place. A fun place to eat is the Stardust Diner. The servers sing and dance, almost like a Broadway show. Not crazy expensive. I don't know the address offhand, but it is in midtown.

I’m starting to get excited. I know it’ll be cold. I just hope no snow or ice. The kids want to ice skate. I want them to wait until Saturday night so if anyone gets hurt, we leave the next day!

Go to the Travelzoo website. They have a special on tickets for skating at Rockerfeller Center. I think it was two for $49 including skate rentals.
