Ugh. I hate breast cancer awareness month. Is there really anyone out there who doesn't know breast cancer is a thing? It just seems like an excuse to talk about boobs for a month.
The first article was all the myths that we have been told about what causes breast cancer, and how that only causes stress. Then there was a super fishy looking click bait article right below it saying "5 foods that cause breast cancer."

The first article was all the myths that we have been told about what causes breast cancer, and how that only causes stress. Then there was a super fishy looking click bait article right below it saying "5 foods that cause breast cancer." I use to pretty much ignore the awareness month too. I pretty much did not think much about it. Then again, I must have been a callous SOB. No more. I pray that more than a few women out there pay attention to it, and do self examinations, etc, or their husbands, boyfriends, or even their significant other girlfriends get involved and discover whether their Grandmother, mother, wife, friend, sister, aunt, or niece might already have the cancer and not know it. This is a beatable disease but must be caught as early as possible. Now we seem to have men diagnosed with it also, so men do some self exams too! As far as the links I posted, yes they are general, etc, etc, etc, but, like I requested everyone is encouraged to post some other articles. If we have one person on the board here, who finds out they, or someone they know have it and get treatment because of this thread, I will consider it a rousing success.

I could claim that I am having my mammogram on Monday because of the breast cancer awareness month. But while it is true that I'll have my girls in a vice on Monday, that would be an absolute lie . I go when one of the nurses catches me and I answer my phone. This time it was because of another check up I needed and once "caught" I take care of everything at once. These (de)vices are medieval torture machines. They should be used on men's "boys" as well . Bet you anything we would have something less painful very soon.

It's like lying on the floor of a cold garage while your husband runs over your boobs with an SUV.

Everyone including men should do regular self-exams of their chest. Actor Richard Roundtree died from breast cancer.

My breast cancer was discovered on a mammogram. That was back in the dark ages of breast cancer in Jan. 1994. It was already stage 2 and had gone into some of the lymph nodes.
A great surgeon and a wonderful oncologist almost 24 years ago and I'm listening to women whine about having a mamma done. Try not having it done and see how that works out for you.
I still go faithfully every year and this year I had a 3D digital one. Tiny specks were found but on having quite a few more to enlarge what they could see, it turned out to be nothing.

If you can't afford one, check to see if they are available in your area for those who have no insurance, and no way to pay. A mobile unit goes around a multi-county area every year providing them for women who have no other means to get one. Two wealthy families have given money for years to make this possible.

They have come up with something less painful and produces better results. Ultrasound mapping. Insurance only pays with some compelling reason. Too bad we can't even talk about it. Big mammogram is watching and snuffing out any opposition.

Contact Planned Parenthood. They can refer you to providers who will provide mamograms at a low cost or sliding scale. Sometimes they arrange for mobile units to come to their clinics. Yes it hurts. I take several ibuprofin before going.

Breast cancer awareness is complete crap. Everyone is already aware of it and how to detect it.
Breast cancer research is what we need to raise money for now and what Komen does.not.do.
