This is what is in my 401K. I am 48 and my DH is 50 and he has a separate 401K.
Can I get any advice or changes needed? I contribute the full allowed amount for my 401K and have been doing so for a few years now.
Name Asset Class Category % Invested YTD Returns As Of
FID MID CAP STOCK K (FKMCX) Mid-Cap 45.73% 9.63% 9/8/2017
HARBOR CAP APPR INST (HACAX) Large Cap 26.81% 25.67% 9/8/2017
FID 500 INDEX INST (FXSIX) Large Cap 12.78% 11.47% 9/8/2017 - Currently Investing 50%
FID EXT MKT IDX PR (FSEVX) Mid-Cap 7.88% 7.44% 9/8/2017 - Currently Investing 50%
FID FREEDOM 2040 K (FSNVX) N/A 5.00% 0.00% 9/8/2017
FID FREEDOM 2035 K (FSNUX) N/A 1.80% 0.00% 9/8/2017
The Freedom Funds were because some funds were changed and they just transferred them based on Age automatically. The Harbor Cap Appr Fund was also a move from another fund when it was closed. I have never revisited or rebalanced till now, as I have been happy with the performance.
I have recently changed to 2 funds of 50% each. Is there any other change that needs to be done or just keep going as is?
Thanks

I am by no means an expert, but I'd ditch the freedom 2040 and 2035 funds. If you like the 2 funds you're currently contributing to, move them there.

I agree. Harbor hasn't done much, it didn't quite double in a decade - ie, less than 7%/yr. And FKMCX hasn't done much during the last decade. Additionally, it is a managed fund, not an index. Historically, fund managers are mostly (85%)unable to match or beat the index, on a net basis. I stick with the unmanaged index funds.
