August stock trading

[Value Buy]

is usually slow volume wise, and Financials and Industrials usually trail the market leaders in the August market movers. Market pundits are looking for Financials to make a move, but I am not sure about it, until the Fed raises interest rates again. 

The markets have performed amazingly well so far, and it would be a shame if we see a market sell off this month while traders party in the Hamptons closer to Labor Day weekend.

Yet given how far the Markets have run up this year, would it really surprise you; if some hotfooted loudmouth sparked off a major selloff?

The DJIA is up over 2,300 points YTD +11.79% as of last Friday, would not surprise me at all if someone set the house on "fire:.

I admit I am not sure what is going on with the markets right now.
Looks like 70% of the corporations are beating earnings estimates, but only a select few companies are really moving on earnings beat. Those that miss are really punished.
Call it the Trump effect......but eventually we should see some cooling off, but so far the markets are saying let's go with it and move forward. I am beginning to think some traders may curtail or shorten their August vacations out of fear they will miss the move either way it goes.
Commodities are telling us there is little to worry over on the inflation front.

The Dow futures were down about 40 points this morning and I assumed it was on Trump's mention of fury like the world has never seen.
Then CNBC said 37 of the points down were for Disney  reporting yesterday so-so results and announcing they were going to develop their own live streaming network.

I was shocked the markets did not sell off on the NK talk. 
Do the market traders just ignore what he says?

I think we can now officially trash the old August doldrum connotation of nothing happening....

Accounts dropped big $$$$$$ yesterday.........it looks worse than it is, but still hurts.
