The postal service reported a loss for fiscal year 2010 of 8.5 billion.
Their answer to the problem is to cut 7 district offices, close 2000 post offices, offer $20,000. for early retirement of some of the employees and the reduction of 7500 employees jobs. The savings are approximately 750 million per year.
As the government continues to apply this kind of math to our deficit problems we are DOOMED!!!!

Snail mail is doomed
Other than package carriers such as UPS or FED EX
The mail service is almost obsolete now....and losing big $ because of it

Doesn't US mail have a package delivery service?
In Canada, the national post office offers its own courier/delivery services. They're slightly slower but far cheaper than the Fedexes and Purolators.

What we need is first class $3.00, small fixed rate box and a large fixed rate box. Can live with no Sat. delivery. No junk mail. If it is not worth $3.00 for them to send it to me I do not need it.
