One of the space shuttle flights flew (way) overhead about ten years ago on its way for its landing at Kennedy Space center. Quite a sonic boom too. Could not see it but definitely heard it.

Just how many photographic lenses and sensors are in that nose cone? I bet they get an hourly count on illegals crossing the border, as well as looking at everything in the ME and central Asia, North Korea, etc.......or just intercepting honest legal American's phone and personal discussions around the world.

The newspaper and local tv stations here in west Tennessee had told us the day and time it would be flying over us. It was a bright sunny day which probably made it very hard to see thousands of feet above us but we heard it when the news said we would hear it.

I'm really disappointed as a society at our progress in manned space travel since the 60's. I look at what those folks did in that decade on computing power I now have in my watch and it was amazing.
Now we have small unmanned shuttles and hitch a ride with Russia to the ISS.

It was a lot easier to justify when it hadn't been done before, when we still had to prove we were better and more advanced than the Russians, and when we weren't running huge deficits every year. But yeah, I kinda miss the days when a space launch was a big deal, and was on all three networks while I was waiting to go to school.

Clinton had either one or two years of no deficit, but that was because everyone was making money on stock market gains which were not real.

I believe it was the same one that went directly over head by me also. It came across with a double sonic boom as was expected. Did you have the same effect ?

Test mule for reusable unmanned spacecraft. Think orbiting drone.
