Not sure how accurate this is, but still interesting. www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/why-did-trump-win-more-whites-%E2%80%94-and-fewer-blacks-%E2%80%94-actually-voted/ar-BBARQ0x?li=BBnb7KzThere is no mention of this about black voters in this article, but I have to question, if they stayed home because Hillary was a candidate, is it because she is a white woman, and the black community does not prefer to vote for white female in a position of real power. Surely they did not stay home because they wanted Trump to win it. As surly as this campaign was, I see no reason for any block of voters to stay home from the polls. There is mention the Hispanic and Asian vote increased over 2012 numbers and is assumed the Hispanic vote went Democratic, but not strong enough to erase the lack of the black vote (especially in the swing states) to over come the lack of support in the black community Discuss, please.

I think that to draw good conclusions, it would be important to determine if 2008 and 2012 had higher than usual black voter turnout and that 2016 was a return to the "norm".

I think that to draw good conclusions, it would be important to determine if 2008 and 2012 had higher than usual black voter turnout and that 2016 was a return to the "norm". That might be true. We do know that in 2008 President Obama turned out a tremendous number of young black and white voters. I believe they tailed off in numbers in 2012 due to the novelty of Obama dimmed a little bit, although white women voters still backed him. I still have to wonder why black voters failed to come out when they faced the idea of a Trump Presidency. I can only think that due to poor national polling, the black community believed the news and thought Hillary was a lock on the outcome, and they did not have to come out that Tuesday enmasse. The biggest problem is not necessarily the national race. These voters also did not show up on the important state, county, and city ballots.
