I read a better article on this. I do think Comey's announcement 10 days before the election put the nail in her election hopes. And absolutely misogyny played a role. Did she hurt her own chances? Of course. Putting a number on the basket of deplorables was a serious error.

Trump made so many errors he should have never been elected according to usual politics. But the Hillary hate and shit stirring against her was so great his mistakes were forgiven and ignored by his supporters. MO.

I concur. It's like if your team won the Super Bowl and the losing team keeps complaining about the refs (when there were other factors too......and maybe the other teams dumb actions (basement server, etc) caused the refs to notice)

Let them keep complaining. It will keep them in their losing streak.

It wasn't a usual politics type of election.   Some people are happy about that.  Some are not.

Explain why you never campaigned in a state you needed to win the Presidency (Wisconsin)and why it was always Hollywood and glamour people who ran your rallies promoting their selves at her expense.
If they were not her opening act, the group was always Grandmas who numbered in the hundreds at her rallies. She never had the backing of the American voter, especially in the mid section of the country.

Bottom line, you can't be in charge of other people's actions or wants. So, perhaps you can do what you want others to do - stop talking about it. She has the right to talk about it as long as she wants to. It was her life that was impacted 24x7, not yours.

Trump won because of the electoral college, that's the truth of it. Clinton won more American voters over than Trump did by sheer numbers, so perhaps you all can come to terms with that.

So yeah, she had the backing of American voters, they just weren't in the right distribution to win the electoral college.

And I'm sick of the logic of the above post. There were lots of alternatives in the Republican party alone. But not enough voters went with non Trump options. Too many were sold by the marketing, the word salad, and the simple fact Trump was not Obama. I blame the people who chose him, not those who didn't vote for other candidates.

And no one seems to know really what the breakdown of voters was. Found an article on how the author could not find any evidence on how many Democrats might have voted for Trump.

I'd like the whole Trump cabal to apologize for using the office to get even richer.  And I'd like Trump to resign rather than wait til he's told he'll be impeached if he doesn't.
I'd like every Trump supporter to admit they were fools.  Every misstep, every mistake made by this mis-administration is on the Trump voter.

Losing to Trump was probably the most humiliating moment of her life. I suspect she would take 100 Monicas before losing to Trump again.

Plus, I think enough people in the Democratic party know that even if it wasn't her "fault" she is tainted and can't run again. It is rare for an official party Presidential candidate to run again against the same guy in the next general. Is Nixon the only person in modern politics to get the nomination twice? And he waited 8 years.

While I agree that there were several Republican options... many were all worse than Trump with their religious nuttery.

If, for example, had Ted Cruz won, he still would have beaten Hillary, but then we'd have a religious nutjob in the White House, and his picks for the Supreme Court would make guys like Gorsuch and Scalia look like bleeding heart liberals in comparison.

And the rest (the non religious-whackaloons) were just woefully unelectable (look at the dismal failure of Jeb, who quit after only getting 3% of the vote in South Carolina)

The "anyone but Hillary" backlash was too much to overcome. She only got the numbers that she did get because of the "Anyone but Trump crowd. This election was never about voting FOR a candidate. This was the first election in US history where it was loathing of the other option that made the decision. As lousy as Obama was as a President, at least his win was because people (mistakenly) WANTED him. Same with Bush II. He wasn't picked because his opponent was loathed. They victorious majority wanted him too.

I don't know a single IRL person that WANTED either of them (Hillary or Donald)... but of those that did vote for one or the other, they held their noses and picked the one they loathed the least.
