Well my friends .... not sure how to say this.
January I had a check-up with my oncologist, complete with blood work. He said my white blood count is going down ....... not sure what that means. So he wanted me to have another blood count done in April. I have an appointment complete with blood work and CT scan in August.
A couple of weeks ago I saw my cardiologist and he heard something in my carotid arteries so he scheduled an ultra sound for me of the neck arteries. That scan showed about a 40% blockage in both arteries. Cardio wanted a blood test.
Got mega testing done today ........ so now I wait.

Sending you lots of good thoughts.
But 40% doesn't seem like that high of a blockage percentage - I'll have to check with my dad, but he got his cleaned out last year and he had been at like 80-85% for a few years.

It's a MUGA scan, VB. It uses a radioactive tracer to evaluate the efficiency of the heart's pumping ability.

I didn't know that type of test existed I thought that might be what you meant, sesfw, rather than a MUGA scan. Sometimes, it seems like they're gonna drain us dry trying to be sure they find everything, doesn't it?

Still no news yet and it's been more than a week since the blood draw. Sure hope the sample wasn't lost, but with my luck Murphy will bite me
I can only assume the news isn't bad enough for either Dr to call

After 2 weeks I finally had to call LabCorp to find out where my results are. Seems the computer ate the Drs names the reports were to go to and no one bothered to contact me to get the information. <sigh> Anyhow ........ my white blood count is back to the normal range and my cholesterol readings are in the normal range. So now I wait for cardio Dr to decide what to do about the plaque in my carotid arteries. Hurry up and wait ..................

Greaat news, sesfw, about the WBC count. That's a relief! Yay! A 40% block isn't something to be overly concerned about. It's more something to watch. If you're not taking a "blood thinner", the doctor may prescribe one just to reduce the risk of a clot getting stuck in the narrowed portion of the artery and causing a problem. Do you take anything to lower your cholesterol? If not, the doc may decide to prescribe something for that, as well as recommending a low cholesterol, low fat diet if you're not already following such a diet. It's very doubtful more than that will be done at this stage.

Thanks mm ...... I'm not knowledgeable in the medicine dept.
I have avoided Drs all of my life and it's just in the past 5 years that I've become acquainted.
The only blood thinner I take is a baby aspirin each day My diet is low sodium and that means lots of fresh fruits and veggies. Eat a lot of nuts, majority of meat is chicken and fish ......... beef maybe once every two weeks, same with pork.
Wish I could find turkey that isn't loaded with sodium.

Diet sounds good, sesfw . Often, cholesterol buildup is genetic rather than diet related. A healthy diet does help some, though, even if genetics are against you. The doc might increase the baby aspirin dosage a bit, or might prescribe another platelet inhibitor. Exercise is, of course, important. For the most part, however, it sounds like you're doing pretty darned well and no changes may be necessary. Boarshead has low sodium turkey products. It's not like they have a whole turkey, though.

Dem ........ I'm so sorry about your friend
My DH#2 first wife died of ovarian cancer also ....... about 9 months after dx. Unless it's found accidentally through another exam, that is one cancer that is usually found too late.
LabCorp has a patient portal and the results are posted within 48 hours. So when 2 weeks went by I knew something wasn't right.
I'm not a patient patient ........ lol

A young woman that I know got ovarian cancer and only survived 4 months after her diagnosis. She was 29 years old with a very young son. Her husband and family were totally devastated.
All cancers can go to hell in my opinion.

Kidney function now down to 22%, Sigh.
All the test, Dr. exams, no one know why it continues to drop.
I was hoping the Parathyroid surgery would help, It didn't>
