...have something you always wished you could do, and never did? I have always wanted to take a balloon ride, and I think I will look into doing that with DD2 this spring before she moves away from FL. DH won't go...fear of heights thing. This morning on the way to work, I was thinking about how I always wanted to learn to play sax. It would be a challenge for anyone who wants to teach me, I think, but I really think I could do it. I would just have to figure out how to compensate for my hearing loss. It isn't something I can do right now, but it is definitely in my mind lately!

My grandpa used to play and I loved listening to him. He played in a band up to the very end

They are fun. We did it in Turkey and loved it. It was sort of funny as the baskets held up to 20 people (sardine class) and were fairly high. They had foot holes so you had to clamber up and then swing yourself in. Not a problem for young people but we had a lot of fairly elderly people who were taken aback at what they had to do but we did get everyone stowed away.
This was over some rough country in Turkey so the pilot took you up to give you a view of the entire valley and then dropped down to skim the tops of the hills. Great chance for pictures.
Take-off was early in the morning before the sun came up. Watching them fire up the burners and start to inflate the ballons was pretty amazing to watch the ballons inflate and start to float.

You know Cheesy with your hearing impairment, maybe you can learn through the feel of the notes. I dont know, but its a thought. Every sound gives off a vibration at different frequency's

I'd love to to the hot air balloon ride, I love to fly, so it would be perfect.
Cheesy, remember music is a lot about math.

Cheesy, let me break character for awhile. If you want to try something, go ahead. Never let a limitation be a roadblock to something you want to try out. If you want to learn to play the sax, go ahead. You might do this for a year or two and then decide to give it up. Yet, by doing this it might open the possibilty to something esle that you haven't thought about doing. For me, I always gave something a shot. Right now, I've been playing cello for about 3 years now and because of that I went to see an opera and that opened up a new world. That's just one example. I also got my pilots license many years ago but that sport was too expensive. So, I got into sailing which is the next closest sport and now I have my Captains License and going further. Let others with more imposing disabilities be your inspiration and seeing the things that they accomplish. I really do think I will try it. Time right now will be a factor, because I am going to be taking on an extra class this semester, so I will look into it for the summer. Kids will be out of school then, and possibly an instructor will have more time. I actually think the stuff you do is pretty cool!

You should break character more often.

I was given a champagne balloon ride for 2 as a gift a few years ago. It was sooooo much fun. The basket was a lot smaller than the one TD2k described though. It held a (maximum) 4 people. and was easy to get in & out of (they had a small step-stool to stand on). Our ride took us over some beautiful countryside as we sipped the champagne. They aren't noisy either except when they activate the propane flame to keep the air in the balloon hot. You can actually hear some of the sounds from the ground when you're up there too. I think you'd love it.

I don't like heights, so a balloon ride would be out for me.
I've always wanted to act in a play. I always thought it would be so much fun, but I was always too afraid to try out.

I've always wanted to play the violin, but haven't made the time for it due to work and kids. I don't see that changing in the couple of years or three, but I do plan on attempting to play before getting too much older.

I always wanted to sky dive, it takes care of a few of my phobias such as flying and heights.

Cheesy, I know there are different kinds of Saxes. Maybe one has a tone or pitch that would be good for you. kgb, plays are easy. Start with small roles, then move up as you gain confidence. Then discover movies - even easier - you don't have to memorize the script first!

There have been a few things I've wanted to do. including skydiving and learning to ride a motorcycle that I haven't done. I'm hoping to start knocking some of those things off my list in 2011.

Cheesy your local music store or high school will have a list of private instructors and they would be able to give your recommendations on who would be best for you. They also make tuners now that will visually show you which note you are playing and whether you are flat or sharp. Learning to play the sax may not be as far out of your reach as you think. Go for it girl!!

Dawg's right, the hot air balloon trip we went on was amazing. It's soooo quiet up there and watching the sun rise over the rock formations in Cappadocia was an incredible sight.

So we didn't go up in New Jersey. I knew it was going to be expensive to take a ride but not that expensive.

It is pretty expensive here too Max, just under 200 per person. I've been willing to spend more than that on a meal for the experience. it would be worth it for an experience like a hot air balloon ride.

Would you just do it already? Make a 2011 resolution that you are going to try something new every month. I did that about 5 years ago and it was fantastic to look forward to something (even skydived that year). I was going to make the same resolution this year.

Skydiving? I don't think that's for me. Maybe I worry too much, but I might show up on that one day that the guy who packs the parachutes has his one and only mistake on the job. Back in school, I played trumpet, trombone, drums (a little), and the tuba (don't laugh). My one regret there was never studying piano. My junior high band teacher tried to give a couple of us lessons after school, but I didn't stick with it. Every now and again, I do think about lessons. Who knows........... Cheesy; I think if anyone in your position could learn to play a musical instrument, it would be you. I don't think there's much you could not overcome.

I know how to play a couple of instruments (piano, flute), but I would LOVE to learn how to play the electric guitar. One of my secret dreams is to be in a band as the lead singer/guitarist.
Before I die I'd like to go to Brazil for Carnivale, snorkel along the Great Barrier Reef, and go skydiving.
