Hurray on the sale Iggy!!! And fingers crossed for your viewing tomorrow!
I'm guessing this is NOT the same house you were talking about (the one that is pending)?

You are correct, debthaven. This one is a foreclosure and was taken over by the insurance company last week according to the assessor's site. Not ideal, but things happen for a reason.

dee27 , thank you so much. The buyers accepted our counter, and we are under contract. We are going to need luck with the latter. DH and I drove to three properties this weekend. The first one we realllllly like, but it is the foreclosure I mentioned above. That's not a big deal, but no one has lived there for months, and there must have been a water break situation, because there is a basement mold situation visible from the front door window. Very disappointing, but we've got our realtor working on contacting the bank who owns it. Now we wait. Property #2 was too far out for daily commuting. Property #3 was as scary as the pictures, but DH wanted to look at it anyway. Told him at least it wasn't false advertising. The good news is DH is as excited as I about finding a new place. He did a bit of research on Google Maps to check other locations last night. The bad news is we have to be out of our current place by the 28th. My plan is to be completely moved out by the 23rd, so the professional cleaner (a friend) and carpet cleaner (also a friend) can come in and work their magic. Looks like we'll be staying at one of my father's hotels for a while. And, no, it's not free for us. Fingers, toes, elbows, ankles, etc. crossed everyone, please.

Checking in. I'm finding it difficult to concentrate on work right now, so here I am. Last night our realtor, whom I have fondly renamed Sparky, sent us two listings. One is on a main road on a certain mesa, the other one has a nice setting, but they haul their water. (This happens a lot in a certain area here, because we are high desert.) Sparky asked if that was a deal breaker. My response was I'm not paying $XX to play Little House on the Prairie. But, the good news is we have an appt to see a different home tomorrow evening. Out of all we've seen, this is the best set up thus far. And the purging continues: Tossed 4 expired spices last night, 6 different sauces/vinegar the night before. I pulled the chilled beer mugs from the freezer so they can thaw to be packed. Meals are planned for the next 2 weeks to ensure all the freezer proteins are consumed. Here we go!

Yesterday we put an offer on the house we looked at Wednesday night. They have until Monday at 5 PM to respond. The suspense is palpable. Am getting fussy, shallow things done here at the office, as it's difficult to concentrate. And an inspector is at our house today, scheduled by the buyers. The almond flour, all but one lb butter, OJ, cod, and frozen tomatoes from last year's garden have been used up. Two pounds of different types of sausage, pepperoni, bacon and 4 lbs chicken legs will be consumed this weekend while camping. Meals have been planned for the next 2 weeks around the rest of the freezer proteins. I put a shout out on FB for moving boxes and scored two different stacks. I plan on packing up the upstairs closets (except my clothing), guest bath and curio cabinet next weekend, and the kitchen the following. Plants will come here temporarily to my office. I'll open a PO Box next week. Have a fantastic weekend, y'all.

Well, I'm grateful my LL didn't raise my rent as it seems I'm going to be renting for a good long while .🙁 What I want seems so simple but it's a sellers market here and I'm not overpaying so I'm staying.

Thank you. I'll need it I think but I'm a big believer in signs. My CD time period was up April 5 and I came home a different way than usual so maybe just maybe my luck will change

Ack! Showings begin on Saturday. The realtors say that rental inventory around here is very low, and there should be no trouble finding someone to sublet the place. And the realtor was right. Showings began on Saturday 4/1, and it was sublet by Wednesday, 4/5. One unexpected good thing from this ordeal is that I've started to make my bed immediately when I get up in the morning. If I can stick with that habit and apply it to my umpteen different failings in the housekeeping arena (i.e., folding laundry when the dryer chime goes off, putting dirty dishes in the dishwasher without a detour and short stay in the kitchen sink, etc.) I'd have a perfectly clean and orderly house in, oh, about 30 years or so. But my feeling is that perfection is highly overrated, and best limited to a staged house on the market.

zibazinski , so happy for you! seriousthistime , I am with you about the immediate perfection! So. The house we lost out on last week, ie a completely rejected offer, the one listed by the realtor I fired, came back with a full counter offer. Guess she figured she wasn't doing her clients a favor by shutting us down so quickly. And perhaps their other cash offer just may not come though in the time frame given. Hmmmm? One wonders? I refrained from telling Sparky, our realtor, to tell her to kiss my lily white a$$. We looked at a home on 40 acres last night. I'll refrain from elaborating at this time. We also were going to look at one on 10 acres tomorrow night, but apparently it might go under contract tonight, so Sparky is going to see if he can squeeze in a showing for us today. Jeez it's competitive out there, now that spring has sprung! (And I calculated at 5:30 this morning, we have 12 days to get our stuff out before the professional cleaner comes.)

I'm meeting my realtor at the house at 10 am. Now I'm starting to have second thoughts and getting chicken.

Yup. Realtor ran comps and they're asking too much. It won't appraise for what they're asking. So my offer is st the top of what it will appraise for.
