A series of interesting polls from the last few months on next years election. What I notice is that Obama vs. an unnamed republican - he wins by an average of 2%. However, when you actually name a republican that win percentage jumps by quite a bit. Meaning, a lot of people don't want Obama, but all the republican options seem to be worse. Obama only lost 1 poll listed on the page (to Romney) & tied in a few. Average Results: Obama vs. Republican 45 - 43 Obama vs. Huckabee 47.8 - 42 Obama vs. Romney 47.7 - 42.6 Obama vs. Palin 52.3 - 36.7 Obama vs. Gingrich 51.5 - 37 Obama vs. Pawlenty 48 - 32 Obama vs. Daniels 44.7 - 32 www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2012/president/president_obama_vs_republican_candidates.htmlI don't think an Obama loss is in the bag yet, despite what some people seem to believe.

You never know what can happen before the next election. I didn't think Bush had a chance for his second term

Yea but Angel although interesting polls today are meaningless because we have so many more months before the Presidential elections. I don't know if Obama loss is in the bag but his winning could be impacted by unemployment numbers...and we need to add millions of new jobs to bring the unemployment numbers down to acceptable ratios..IMHO and of course a lot depends on who will be the Republican Presidential Candidate...so far none are attracting much notice by the voters.
I think and don't have anything to back it up but Obama may decide to NOT run for a second term as our 44th President....he may just want to finish out his term and not take on another four more years if our economic and domestic policies are still hung up with a lot of bipartisan bickering

That's the problem. If the Republicans field another dried up, old, establishment politician like Gingrich or Romney, the chances of beating Obama are not very good. If the Republicans actually listen to Americans and either start acting like conservatives or get the hell out of the way and allow a relatively unknown, TRUE conservative make a run, it will be a landslide victory and Obama will go down...

... If the Republicans actually listen to Americans ... So who are those people who vote in the Republican primaries?

It will all depend on the economy. Which for either party at this day and time have really no control over.

Forget ole Newtie... . how about Romney and a new young impressive republican as his running mate.

I had mentioned in another thread that I keep hearing blips about Mitch Daniels, who said something along the lines of the next Republican candidate putting social issues on the back burner in order to focus on fiscal issues. The problem with being a front runner right now is that it gives opponents plenty of time to find some dirt on you. Of course I guess in that case there are no surprises during the election either. In any case, I wouldn't be surprised if a relatively unknown candidate took the nomination before all is said and done.
