I heard a while ago she was leaving Fox for NBC. I guess it was true.

I think it's racist to expect to keep a job because of race.

Al Roker was likely spared because he serves other purposes in the weather area. Tamron didn't really do much else besides the news reader/fluff hour hostess stuff. I don't think it was a big loss, really.

I don't think it was a big loss, really. That is not true. She had her own show on MSNBC, and recently filled in for the national nightly news for a week. She has actually been very active on MSNBC lately. There was an article I read yesterday saying how active she had been, and NBC managers had told her what a great job she had been doing and her hour the Today show was actually getting stronger in the ratings. I could not find the article today and went with the one I posted at the beginning of the thread. I guess when you pay the big bucks to Megyn Kelly, someone has to go, but I did not exect the third hour of the Today show to be the spot for Kelly. Wonder if Willy Geist stays on....... Obviously MSNBC and NBC have decided they have to go more middle of the road to survive, but I really doubt Kelly will be sitting down on a regular basis with President Trump, so not expecting big exclusives anytime soon.

I liked him best as a weather person for NBC.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Roker
Roker's career with NBC began in 1978 when he was hired at WKYC-TV in Cleveland, then an NBC owned-and-operated station. After five successful years in Cleveland, Roker was promoted to the network's flagship outlet, WNBC-TV in his hometown. Roker returned to New York City in late 1983 as a weekend weathercaster, and within eight months became the station's regular weeknight weathercaster. Roker replaced 27-year WNBC-TV veteran Dr. Frank Field, who left the network after a contract dispute. From 1983 to 1996, Roker was the regular substitute for forecaster Joe Witte on the NBC News program NBC News at Sunrise, and from 1990 to 1995 filled in for Willard Scott, Bryant Gumbel and Matt Lauer on the Today Show.
In 2002,[25] Roker underwent gastric bypass surgery to lose weight, which he said he did after failing at numerous diets. Eight months after that surgery, the New York Daily News reported he had dropped 100 pounds (45 kg) off his 320-pound figure.

I remember when he lost the weight. Good for him as he's still comparably thin.

So ... you see business as usual as turning conservative? News stations are into making $$ by getting viewers. So they added one person with a conservative bent to 1 hour out of 24 in a broadcast day.
I had to read the article to find out about the time slot they are giving her. Used to be anchored by Billy Bush before the Trump/Bush tape release.
However, 62-year-old Roker and 46-year-old Hall are not leaving the Today show or NBC. A second source with knowledge of the situation echoes that despite rumors, Hall is "expected to stay at the network and with the Today show family."
"She will still fill in on the Today show at times when Savannah [Guthrie] is off," the source says. "She will also continue her daily show on MSNBC."
The network has made no official comments on the changes.
Interestingly enough, "Today's Take" was previously fronted by Billy Bush, before he was let go after his infamous Donald Trump controversy. From your link- www.etonline.com/news/208709_today_show_dropping_al_roker_and_tamron_hall_today_take_hour_to_make_room_for_megyn_kelly/

The article I read yesterday said basically the same thing, but her manager denied she was staying. He said they offered her money, but for some reason the manager, or Tamron, said no, and she is leaving at the end of her contract.

This is one of their songs I remember the most:

I personally hadn't seen her other work around the NBC family, just what she did for the Today Show (and occasional appearances as the anchor for the Nightly News). I clicked one of the links posted earlier, and it said that NBC had offered - and expected her to accept - to stay on for her other roles. she chose to decline.

I don't want conservative or liberal news. Report the facts, for a change, after making sure they ARE facts and let people decide for themselves. My absolute favorite quote is "Truth isn't a thing of fact, or reason. It's simply what everyone agrees on." There are not as many "facts" as we think. Most everything we hold as a truth is just something that we as a society have agreed to. There won't be many facts on the news, as most things they cover are debatable and can be seen different ways from different angles.

mornings for me had always been just the local news, then I'd hit the road. now, it's local news/Food Network for background noise until the pups and I get moving and either walk or dog park it.

Would you deny him his negotiated salary? Your comment sounds a bit hostile.

Would you deny him his negotiated salary? Your comment sounds a bit hostile. I never said Al was just being kept on due to a high salary payout. I said he keeps his over priced contract. Al is all over the network and sometimes on MSNBC. This is only one hour of programming he no longer will be on. If I said just about anyone on national television is over priced, would you consider that hostile? Everyone is over priced and especially Hannity at Fox and now Kelly at NBC.

Again, I said he did not lose any money because he is still employed........ Now in your answer to an absurd side bar, which has nothing to do with my post................Heck No. A contract is a contract. If he was let go, he earned the payout. Unless he broke some sort of contract provision, or there was a specific negotiated buyout payment listed in the contract. This is assuming the contract does stipulate total payout if let go, without a provision for lesser payout.

Alrighty then. You don't begrudge anyone's negotiated salary.
