Swam tonight and it was amazing. Apparently waiting 2-3 weeks between workouts is ideal to having a smooth, fast, easy workout!

Actually I'm still cranky from yesterday when MJ told me to make getting up in the morning necessary. Fair enough... that really was the worst. HEY!

In other news I can't move today. *Sigh* When will I get to a place where working out doesn't incapacitate me for 2 freaking days afterwards? When does that happen? I broke down and bought one of those foam rollers with the knobbly bumps. My body is so old and fucked up.

When does that happen? when workouts become either daily or 3+ times a week. Yeah I've been doing 3x/week since January and I'm still unable to move for 2 days. So I think it may be the other way around - you're able to work out daily when you reach some magical level of fitness and are no longer incapacitated for days? Unclear. I try to tell myself it's obvious I'm working very hard. Right? That's the story I'm sticking with.

Someone told me something about certain supplements you should take post-workout so that the muscles can recuperate faster. He's not into taking performance-enhancers, so it's nothing like that. Maybe there is some kind of protein or vitamin that you're lacking that is slowing your body's recup time...? I have no doubt that you are working hard.

I don't know. It only took me a month or 2 to get over that kind of soreness. I ramped up my workout frequency, and may have started drinking the protein shakes afterwards. (Not always, but often, as I'd get really hungry, and they're 100 calories and delicious.)

I know it hurts a ton this time because I haven't worked out in a few weeks and I exercised on back to back days. But still!

I do start feeling weaker after just missing a couple days, but I don't get sore any more unless I do something new. But still, I could handle a lot more when I was younger, that's for sure.

I only got 1 day at the gym today due to feeling run down and crappy. I have hit 10k + steps every day this week except yesterday, since i stayed home, watched netflixed and napped.
Hopefully i can kick this and it doesn't turn into a nasty cold... then get back to it next week,
I have kept my calories in check while not going to the gym.

LOL, I've used lacrosse balls for this for years because of my back. I carry one in my purse, one in each car, one at work, several at home. I didn't know this was an official thing! (Also in the name of fiscal responsibility, lacrosse balls are cheaper.)

The little bag that holds them together is handy to for rolling on 2 at a time.

Had my six week appointment today. I am done with crutches! If aluminum could burn I'd throw them in a fire. I do have a cane for assistance as I gradually work to full weight-bearing. Surgeon said once I get working on strength with my PT (we've only been doing ROM exercises) then I can swim and use the elliptical. I can also put my bike on the trainer and use pain as my guide. So yay! Getting closer to normal!

Weekly check-in:
It's been a couple weeks since I checked in I think. My eating choices have been ok, but not great. I've still been sticking to my lower carb routine, but this last week I've eaten way more bread and pasta than I have for a while. It's just so convenient! I get really tired of making sure I have bacon or sausage cooked up and in the fridge so I can just warm it up in the mornings. But it's amazing how much longer I stay full eating proteins instead of carbs, and how much better I feel. Oh, and I discovered the unwiches at Jimmy John's. Basically lettuce wrapped sandwiches. I highly recommend!
Flights of stairs - not even worth counting since I did so few this week. We had great weather earlier in the week, so I walked about 40 minutes at lunch Mon-Wed though and about an hour Saturday.
Got to the gym twice. I'm still struggling with going during the week. I'll go Tuesday, I swear!
Hope everyone has a good week!

hit a nice low number this morning, but it was an artificial low, I think. last night was a bit boozy with a girlfriend, and there was a bit of dehydration this morning. but that's okay, it will all even out. I've been eating anything that isn't nailed down today, though. that's not good. didn't do much outside today as the weather's just icky. we spent a little time at the dog park this morning, until a rather aggressive dog showed up, whose owner had little interest in controlling his PITA. Little Dog was one of the targets, so we left. have split the rest of the day so far between cooking and doing more reorganizing in my newly laid out bedroom. I made a batch of risotto to have on hand for easy lunches this week, and got flush-mount extension cords to be able to plug in everything I need to in my bedroom since now all of the outlets are covered by furniture. whoever rewired my house sucks at life.

Threw out my back at children's museum with girls estersay so no gym even though we have nanny today. So frustrating!
I'm still not back down to where I was pre-travel and this weekend was a shitshow.
Oh well, onward.

I hate spring showers! Feeling crappy all weekend... plugged ears, watery eyes, stuffy head. Managed to get several hours of work in and lay on the sofa. That is about it. Trying to do some food prep for the week now. My back is killing me from 9+hours of sleep last night and the night before, and lots of laying around. Going to do core and lower body later as well as more stretching.

Glad I got my workout in this morning b/c it's pouring now. Also glad I talked DH out of washing my car. I'm though my big work event, so even though work isn't going to slow down soon, I won't be near as frantic and flustered. Hopefully that means I won't feel as tired either, and I'll have more energy to get more steps in during the week. I'm at 16,500 for today which is a huge jump from what I'd been doing the last few weeks where I hadn't been hitting 10k consistently.

All I'm doing is the leg lifts all the way around but they have done wonders for strengthing my back, oh and the butt lifts, forgot about those. Of course not losing weight, but getting stronger is my first goal. I need to start adding other exercises as I go along.
Taking my colloidial liquid minerals daily, haven't had leg cramps in a couple of weeks, DD and I both got up in a really really good mood today and stayed that way. I wonder if that's helping we are both taking them.

Weekly check in. Did not hit step goal for second straight week. I had a lazy day Sunday. I did better with my eating after Wednesday. Weight is down a bit. I think I will keep the step goal at 75000 for the week. Limit in between meal snacks. When I get urge to eat drink some tea instead. Pants Sorry about your back. sarcasticgirl I too am tired of feeling crappy. Have a great week everyone.

My eating toward the end of last week was atrocious - weekend wasn't terrible, portion sizing/amounts of snacks was good but quality of food wasn't great. I am down a pound this morning compared to last Monday though, so just gotta keep plugging away. In a week or two I could theoretically be under 180 if I'm good! Got decent steps over the weekend despite crap weather ruining any plans of going out for walks..
This week as I have the time in the evenings I'm going to start my pilates DVDs again, I have a core, abs and butt one and they're all pretty good. Tried the core one a few times when the baby was 2-3 months old and it kicked my ass - I might do better with it now and maybe it'll help the belly out.
