DH just left for a spur of the moment work trip. To Australia. For a month. Leaving me with a 2 year old and 5 year old. I have feelings and I'm eating them. Seriously off the wagon, and no plans to get back on soon. Stick to that diet or whatever and lose the weight if that is your goal. Then when he gets back and says "WOW" you can say you farmed the kiddos out and partied hardy and the weight just fell off. I'm mean that way

Can you ditch the kids w/in laws or parents and go visit for a week? Do you have anyone to help out while he is gone?

oy, so overwhelmed looking at Ryka's website. question for you fans - how cushioned are your sneakers? that seemed to be the balance point when I was trying stuff on this morning. I don't need as much support as I do cushion. these are the two I took pics of this morning, I would be okay with either shoe. but I do want to try on some Ryka, since so many of you mentioned them. and, since so many of the walking varieties are so much cheaper than either of the two below. it definitely behooves me to try them on, at least. New Balance BrooksI am partial to NB but I have a wide foot and extremely high instep. They offer me the most support and feel like I am walking on cloud. But I try them on in the store. Hard to fit here.
Oh, and I clicked on the NB link but got a blank page so can't comment.
well, apparently I am the exact opposite. the woman at Marathon said my feet are slightly flat, and they are really narrow. I actually felt a little off balance in the first pair of NBs I tried on, and my heel was sliding inside the shoe. next up was a pair of Mizuno, they were decent. but the two I linked to were 1 and 1A.

I bought a pair of Brooks today to replace my worn out Saucony which are lighter than my previous pair. My feet are shrinking as they measured a 1/2 size smaller than last year. I love the webbed Brooks I bought last year for the springtime.

BSB,
I would stick to the diet but get a babysitter as needed to decompress.

Wow, Pants. My kids are that spread of ages. My deepest sympathies. As for the other topic. I've got a pair of Ryka's. Pretty sure from QVC. I have wide feet, and they are wide's. I guess they're pretty comfortable. I don't wear them that often, as they're black\hot pink and don't usually match what I'm wearing. They are cushy and very light. (My current go-to shoe being a memory foam slide on by sketchers.)

They'd been discussing it for mid-april but it got moved up while I was away on business. We had 4 days notice. I looked into going but the cost/benefit wasn't good enough.

thanks. Reebok tends to fit my foot weird, although it has been awhile since I tried one on. are they a wider fit generally? I'm going to head to a place up in Plymouth that says they carry Ryka in stock, sometime this weekend. hell, maybe tomorrow if the weather sucks as badly as the forecast says. for me today, it is mid-40s and zero wind here. that meant the canal was glass and barely a breeze. pups and I did 5 miles, they are now passed out. I'm enjoying a hearty lunch. I seared/roasted a pair of bone-in pork chops that needed to be cooked today. having one now with a scoop of colcannon and a tiny portion of black peppercorn salmon I had thawed. a little protein heavy, but dinner will be the other pork chop and a big salad. so how many steps is 5 miles?

I don't have wide feet, so I don't think Reebok fits wide. But they might if your feet are narrow.
And I think there are 10,000 steps in 5 miles.

so how many steps is 5 miles? depends on your height and the length of your stride. but andi is right... they say the average is 2000 steps per mile. Mine is totally off from that! hit the gym- didn't have lunch, didn't make the best lunch choice. I feel like I've been working out just to eat more.

I have no problems maintaining my weight when I skip the gluten and dairy. But I need to lose... and all I seem to be doing to adding workouts... and eating more! I need a better combo of protein/healthy fats and carbs to keep me fuller for longer.

I do eat a lot of dark chocolate though and right now I am obsessed with those royal dark Cadbury mini eggs, which certainly isn't the "healthier " kind of dark chocolate!

Today wasn't bad. I had a work breakfast, and I ordered egg whites, bacon, and hash browns instead of the pancakes I really wanted. Well, someone did let me have a small wedge of pancake - YUM! Breakfast came out to be roughly 700 calories via MFP. Not too awful. The thing that saved today was that I inadvertently skipped lunch (had an interview from 12:30-2:30ish) and ended up having one of those bottled smoothies around 3:30. Tonight I did a 35 min cardio workout and PIGGED on dinner. Sort of - 2 turkey tacos with flour tortillas, salsa, and guacamole, and a third tortilla with just guacamole. I suspect I'll be right at my desired total after all is said and done and I am FULL!

We had oriental for lunch I had one plate and not piled, ice tea, and a bowl of won ton soup. Dinner I had some fried cabbage and kielbasa, just a bit. Then some slices of thin sliced ham with crackers.
Also I got my smelts and just had to fry some to eat, so gooooood. But more then I should have eaten I'm sure.
I put out 200 pounds of fertilizer on the lawn and garden, we have 300 pounds more and don't think that will do it. DH is talking about buying a quarter ton bulk next year and doing all the lawns at all the houses.
I was on and off the mower hand fertilizing, trees, shrubs, and flowers so good thing I have been working out or would have been weak.

I'm at 680 calories for. The day so far. Don't know what dinner will bring or even what it will be. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical and then Zumba. May just drink my dinner.

My fitbit sent me an email saying that I failed at life last week. I'm just glad I only gained 2 pounds. I regret nothing.

alright, I'm ready to stop wallowing and figure out a plan. Swimming at night is obviously no longer feasible given single parenthood.
Tomorrow I'll need you guys to help me figure out a new workout plan!

I did pretty well eating Monday, but ate out literally 3x yesterday so kind of just threw it for the day. Had a delicious bagel at the new bagel place in town, ate lunch at a meeting, then had dinner out w/ friends and got fish & chips. brought a bunch of healthy stuff to eat at work today so hopefully today will be better.

Easier said than done, but maybe sit ups when they are calm watching a video or napping. Maybe get some of those ankle weights or something around the house. Walks around the neighborhood. Maybe a u tube video workout after they go to sleep. Again, much easier said than done.

I need to figure out a new plan as well. Working out while the kid is napping doesn't work when the kid doesn't nap any more. ( --because he still needs the sleep) Plus, my neck is feeling better, but keeps getting sore if I push too much. Oh, and I'm spending major hours at my mom's house now. Maybe I'll check out a YouTube barre workout. I can do that there as she's got hardwood floors everywhere, unlike my own house. I wish my DH were feeling better so he could grill up more steaks for me. That seems like the easiest way for me to lose weight, is to eat those. When I was losing, I ate only 1200 net calories/day, which was doable with steak/baked potato/sour cream/salad. I need to be in a better mindset and better prepared for limiting to 400 calories/meal + small snack.

Tomorrow I'll need you guys to help me figure out a new workout plan! when do you get up in the morning? Is it possible to get up 30 mins earlier and squeeze a YouTube workout in? If you do that, check out JessicaSmithTV on Youtube. She has some great walking, cardio, and barre workouts that are 25-40 mins long. The only other time is when they go to bed, but working out late at night has never been something I was able to do.

I cannot force myself out of bed any earlier than necessary.
