Having gotten bored once more with playing Hide and Seek with God (I'm an atheist - that's a JOKE!!) I've blundered into a odd bit that seems to be a theme across the ages and the god(s) that everyone seems to overlook....
From Jesus (a human sacrifice to God and He gets sacrificed everytime a Mass is said...) and the old testament to the pre-Christian groups in Europe to the various cultures/religions in North and South America - gods seem to require blood/human life. I don't know enough about religions in Africa, India, China, and Australia to know if human sacrifice was practiced there (but I suspect it was).
This got me wondering: Why do god(s) need human blood/life offered to them ritualistically? Why? Is it Ego? Is it insecurity? Why

In a funny coincidence, I saw a random meme today about a mother saying if she was ever asked to sacrifice her child the way Abraham was prepared to do she would tell God to "f off". Like that mother in the meme, I don't believe that Gods want or need human blood to spill on their behalf. In fact, if the god in question is a god of love (which is the only god I would ever have faith in), then human sacrifice is a sinful act. I think humans sometimes do outrageously immoral things to try and atone for their own mortal transgressions when all they are really doing is making things worse for themselves.

The old saying "no such thing as original thought " is actually a truism of sorts, our brains are pattern making machines and new ideas are adaptations of previous models. The first model we became aware of was ourselves and self awareness spawned countless copies. The spirit world whether it be the underworld or heaven is just a mirror of our own world as were the emotions and nature of the spirits.
A neolithic human sought revenge for harm done(an eye for an eye) and when mother nature misbehaved badly we assumed we had harmed the spirits and they were angry, to give them revenge we offered what was most precious, one of our own.
Self awareness revealed " intention ", we did things to each other for a reason, the beginnings of explanation if you will,we used this model to explain everything in nature,an intentional stance that even explained the reason for the creation of the universe.
I wish all good health in 2017.

I think this is closer to the truth than anything I've even thought of. The best defense is a good offense ............. Here, take what I have as long as You'll let me do what I want.
In these few past election cycles it was called 'throwing someone under the bus'
Yes, throughout history there have been blood sacrifices ......
