yearly cost is ok with everyone...also there is the $25 Billion cost for the wall in the South...wait, believe Mexico pays for that one,, www.courant.com/business/hc-trump-navy-ships-20161216-story.html"The new goals would boost by 16 the number of "large surface combatants"– destroyers, cruisers or both. It would add one aircraft carrier in addition to the 11 mandated by law today, 18 more attack submarines and as many as four new amphibious warfare ships.
Cost remains the biggest impediment: The nonpartisan Congressional Research Service estimates a 350-ship Navy would cost an average $4 billion extra annually over the current forecast of about $16.3 billion a year for new ship construction through 2021. The current budget calls for eight new vessels in fiscal 2018; seven in fiscal 19; and eight each in 2020 and 2021."

the new administration's deficits will make us long for the good old days of Obama. I predict those screaming about the debt will suddenly be OK with it increasing. They were silent during W's years.

They were silent during W's years. oh, but don't say anything. they will scream HYPOCRITE! in an attempt to inoculate themselves. it's so predictable, one could set one's watch by it.

the new administration's deficits will make us long for the good old days of Obama. Sadly... I agree with the likelihood of this. However it would be even more true had Hillary won... so there's that.

As business major in college, I remember the econ classes where we students were shown how different presidents increased our national deficit. In spite of tough talk, the Republicans ALWAYS outspent the Democratic Party. I pulled up this graph to show nothing has changed. And, since "The Donald" seems to live for walking away from big bills, I expect his future presidency will make things a LOT worse.

I don't know if that chart is accurate or not, but I do know it's misleading as hell since it's a known FACT that Obama increased the debt by well over what Bush did.

Then it was another thing at another time. Then it was a third thing at a third time. If Bush gets "charged" for interest that occurred during his presidency, then so does Obama. Doing that is calling things equally.

You guys realize the OP title is misleading...correct?
It's just the Navy's "plan". There's still this thing called "sequestration".

There are plenty of others who can critique the Trump Administration.

Agree unless the Donald goes off the deep end and he feels he has to speak out....we will have to see...So far and it's my opinion here...the Donald has been irresponsible in so many of his tweets and comments..reacting with knee jerk reactions and then having to basically retract or find another to put blame on...time to become more presidential,,it's on him now

... unless the Donald goes off the deep end and he feels he has to speak out.... ... There will be no need for Obama to speak out if Trump "goes off the deep end" depending on definition. I think some of Candidate Trump's comments during the campaign dipped a toe in but most of what he proposed I simply disagreed with. I am waiting to see what he actually does in office and how Congress responds. If it is truly "deep end" and not just partisan differences, then we have the check of the Supreme Court as well. If we are talking tweets about drones, we have dez@dezailoooooo to set Trump straight so won't need Obama to step in. ![](http://images.proboards.com/new/tongue.png)
