Berlin Germany? Malta, don't know.
<My 57th birthday is in April.... >
Berlin, Olympic stadium. Meh. But I went in 1977? Since its Europe, most of the good stuff will still physically be there, so Dinklesbuhl, Germany Buy their white wine.

Berlin wall is worth it. Whatever the tomb/soldier thing on the East side was worth it. Glanced at my photo albumn and remembered all that. When the HS band and I went, there were no advertisements/color in East Berlin except the occasional red lettering against the seeming gray buildings. Color returned once back from checkpoint Charlie in West Berlin. Worth going, did a bus tour. Only decamped at whatever that tomb is with the stiff legged soldiers.

Brandenburg Gate is neat. US Embassy is right behind it on your right (as you head east) Museum Insel (island) is super. Reichstag is Impressive. The city has more bridges than either Venice or Amsterdam. Some are pretty impressive. Tiergarten is cool (like Central Park in New York City. There is a boulevard that runs 12 miles from the Brandenburg gate to the Olympic Stadium complex (from 1936 Olympics) called Die Strasse der 17. Juni on the west. on the east side of the Brandenburg Gate the boulevard is Unter Den Linden. Lots of things to see in both directions. There is an interesting museum just east of the gate dedicated to John F Kennedy. The Kurfuerstendam is an interesting shopping area just south of the Tiergarten and west of the Brandenburg Gate. The Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church is there too. There is an underground mall located under the Friedrich Strasse in what used to be East Berlin. There are innumerable eating places. Food is good, so is the Bier! If the weather is good I liked the outside seating for restaurants or an afternoon snack. You can even rent an old Trabant (weird little east German Car) and cruise around the city. If you are staying inside the city, pick up one of thei city transit passes. You can ride anything except a taxi with it. Potsdam is inside the circle of places to go on those passes. The castles and palaces of Frederick the Great are more than impressive (Sans Souccii, The Orangeri, and the New Palace (Neues Schloss). The old King was so tight he even had a big windmill constructed where they could grind their own wheat for bread. He thought it too expensive to pay local millers or bakers...
