What has been the downside??
Stock Market soaring, Establishing new International relationships, and the start of common sense to government regulations.

We are not a couple of weeks into Trump.
I'm still waiting for all his picks to make it through Congress.

I went in for a hair cut yesterday and all the barber did was airbrush it to the side. Now I have to wear one of those stupid hats. But seriously, maybe he'll surprise us. Maybe he will actually tone down some of the more right wing extremists in the House now that the GOP controls both House's of Congress. the first sentence is funny! Second sentence, you are correct. He will surprise both sides. Right wing will be disappointed, left wing will be relieved.

At least we know there will not be a spot for Giuliani, so that's good. He has totally squandered the "America's Mayor" thing and become something at least bordering on if not far past ridiculous.

They shouldn't. Few seem to have any qualifications other than being rich or being a general. And several seem to be against the department they would be in charge of.

or maybe the opposite can occur.....government careerists might get frustrated with Trump & his staff .......he will have 8 years after all.....dude isn't even sworn in yet and is causing all kinds of commotion......imagine what he and his crew can do in 8 years....

Really hope so...hope now that he is the heir apparent..does not worry about being reelected...do or thinking one term and will work with who ever to get real things to help the country ...so far, and grant u it's only been a short time..he is kind of disappointing...especially with his lack of balls, being so thin skinned and his inability to take any kind of criticism..having to tweet over every little thing..his knee jerk reactions where as a phone call or just ask someone to check out a rumor or what he read somewhere would keep his ccraziness to a minimum..

Like it or not, sounds like you're all included. Perhaps you're awaiting your invite to the Clinton party on the 15th?

It'd be nice if he did even half of that, but at the same time you have to remember that we are talking about the biggest, most blatant liar that we have seen in the American political system in our lifetimes. I'll wait to see, but I am not optimistic, particularly when looking at his appointment choices. Doesn't look to be a whole lot of concern for the American public.

Oh, and supposedly been a increase in the incidence of "hate crimes." Though most of the ones I've read about amount to petty vandalism and general jackassery, which I don't view as serious hate crimes, but some may disagree.

So those who have been the recipient of petty vandalism and general jackassery because of their race, religion, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientstion, etc. should just acept this as the new norm. Is that correct?.

I know petty vandalism and general jackassery are all meant in fun... it's not scary or distressing for who ever it happens to. They KNOW it's a joke. So what if they have to spend some money to fix whatever was broken or so what if someone made one of their loved ones upset/frightened or if it ruined a special occasion. It's a JOKE!! You'd think people would just deal with it.
I know it's "joke" and "no harm is meant" because as a woman I have to deal with comments from men and sometimes being groped not to mention all the care and consideration I need to go thru to decide if a public area/place is going to be safe/harrasment free. I just brush off the comments, the fear, the roving hands and chalk it up to guys being guys. They can't help it. They have that defective chromosome (the Y one.... it's missing some bits). They don't mean to frighten me or make me uncomfortable (or maybe cause me physical harm!!). It's a JOKE!! It's for FUN!!!
All of that above isn't serious (it's sarcasm... just incase you couldn't tell).
Here's the SERIOUS stuff: you might want to reconsider that "petty vandalism" and "general Jackassery" WON"T be so benign when it happens to you or someone you love. Can you really brush off someone damageing YOUR property or someone you love's property out of anger? Or maybe you just think it's a "joke" and you'll laugh it off with feeling violated or afraid?

I'm just glad I work for the DOD, I'd be worried if I was in the EPA or department of education right about now. So, you think you are immune? You do realize you might want to start assessing who will be your friends at work and start cultivating those friendships. You might want to make sure that some of those 'friends' are in higher places and can protect you. You don't want to get thrown under the bus.
Of course, if your area of work is already very "who you know" versus WHAT you know... you may be use to those kinds of working conditions. If you are use to a "fair" work place that's not entirely based on "who you know" or "being liked by the bosses" I would consider taking stock of the higher ups and attaching yourself to whoever you think will best survive any changes.

No one is immune or irreplaceable. But at least our cabinet pick isn't against our agency, unlike some.
