Has anyone seen a ghost first hand ? I have....I'll share if anyone is interested..

Shortly after my second MIL passed away, I was in the storage area at work and I distinctly her call my nickname that she gave me and no one else never used. She also had a very distinct voice/accent.


Then a year later my DS was born and had some minor issues and my BIL (who had lived with her, favorite child, but had a lot of medical issues) was staying with us for awhile, were both in separate rooms. I kept seeing a shadow go from one room to the next for several nights.

I really have to laugh at this because it brings back memories from my youth. My father are I were the family cynics. My mother, on the other hand, believed in ghosts and spirits. One night, my father asked her why he'd never seen a ghost in our house when we knew people had died there. Mother just looked at him for a minute and answered:  No ghost would dare enter the premises with you and YOUR daughter in here!

Seriously, thanks for the reminder of old times and cherished moments.

we, my wife and i were walking to our hotel around eleven pm along open area from the Canadian side of Niagara Falls....no one was within 50 yards around us....then we felt someone was following us...we glanced back an saw man in tight pants and cowboy hat...
we stepped aside  to let him thru but continued walking...when he did not pass thru we glanced again but he was gone it was only about two seconds...if i was alone my wife would think I was daydreaming...

my sister-in-law 's co-worker moved from her apartment...my sister-in-law rented the same apartment....when seeing a young woman appear and disappear a few times , she moved out ....she told her co-worker who confirmed what she saw but did not want to believe herself..


later they learned someone committed suicide in that apartment..

my wife was alone preparing breakfast when she heard someone pull up a chair by the table behind her....she glanced back and saw her aunt who lives from out of the U.S.....when she asked her how she got here, she vanished...

later that day she received news that her aunt passed away...

Never seen a ghost. But after our 12 yo son died we had experiences with a butterfly hanging around us and felt his presence. Many times while I ran on a trail a butterfly would follow me.

I used to get sleep paralysis occasionally and thought I may be seeing ghosts (dark figures).  Once I discovered what it was and its triggers I reduced caffeine intake and the sleep paralysis episodes went away, I had read others also witnessed dark figures during the sleep paralysis episodes.

Talk about some scary stuff though, waking up and not being able to speak or move.

I'm so sorry, Ken. I can't even imagine the heartache involved. My mom loved butterflies, she said that they were a way to show us that life is beautiful.

Mother swore she saw my father after he passed. We'd moved mother into our home. She said he came to her with two other men, one standing on each side of him. She said they were wearing cloaks with hoods so she couldn't see their faces. She said daddy didn't speak to her, just stood and looked at her for a few moments, smiled, then nodded to the two men and all three disappeared. She felt he had come to be sure she was okay and being cared for.

The night after my father passed away my mother saw him sitting on the bed taking his socks off, it was his regular routine before going to bed, she accepted it was only her imagination but did say it gave her some comfort. 

It appears a traumatised mind is extremely susceptible to two things, illusion and wishful thinking, this combination explains why some see and hear deceased loved ones.

It may well be the devoted followers of Jesus saw an image of Jesus after he died.

I had a cat for 20 years.  Was there when she was born & held her as she passed.  We had a full blown funeral for her.  My brothers & my kiddo built her a "casket", painted it white w/ black spots like she had...words spoken with family, a large rock w/ 1 flat side that we turned into a tombstone for her.  My brothers & kiddo couldn't remember a time in their lives that she wasn't around.  I was devastated by it. 

the night of her "funeral", around 3 am, I took our dog out for a walk in the front yard.  He wasn't on a leash.  Instead of doing his thing, he just sat down at my feet and didn't move.  All of a sudden a white rabbit with black spots (seriously, looked just like my cat) hopped in front of me & stopped & looked at me.  The dog (who would chase anything anytime anywhere...EXCEPT for that cat) didn't move, didn't acknowledge the rabbit, didn't do anything but look at me.  After about a minute, the rabbit hopped off & the dog got up and did his thing.  I really believe that was a little sign from my baby girl that she would always be with me.  Never saw the rabbit before or after that.  Dog had a healthy fear of cats because of her.

My aunt swears that her mother in law sits on top of a china hutch that her MIL gave to her before her death.  She tried to give the china hutch to me because she was seeing her MIL too often.  No one else in her family has seen what she sees.  My cousin's wife took the china hutch & has never seen anything strange sitting on top of it.  My cousin does say that his grandmother (from the hutch) stood at the foot of his bed the night she died.

We lived in a house that we didn't "see" anything, but weird shit happened.  Every night at 3 am, the hall bathroom light would turn on & after a minute, the toilet would flush.  You could go stand in there as it happened.  Light switch would still be down (light off), but the lights would be on.  You could watch the toilet flush, but never see the handle move.  Happened every single night.

My gramma's 2nd husband was a Baptist preacher.  All us grandkids would take turns going up and staying with them.  My gramma couldn't deal with a bunch of us at once, so we were always visiting alone.  It wasn't until we were adults & started comparing stories that we realize we ALL had the same experience in the same room at my step grandpa's house. 

There was a large guest room that she always put us kids in.  There was a street light that shined in thru the window & was so bright that you could literally read a book by it.  It was annoying.  At some point after you fell asleep, something would wake you up.  The room would be so pitch black dark that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.  And you knew the room shouldn't be that dark because of that damn street light.  You couldn't see anything, just pitch black room.  Then at the light fixture a blue light would start and get brighter and brighter and brighter until the whole room was glowing blue, then the light would wink out and the street light would light up the room again. 

As adults we found out that step grampa's 1st wife committed suicide because she had terminal cancer.  We had no clue.  She hung herself in that guest bedroom from the light fixture.  Again, we all had the same experience, but we were never together when it happened.  None of us knew she had committed suicide or that she did it in that room.  (why gramma would put us in there still baffles us)

I've had a spooky experience

We were working on overgrown Roman encampment (from the 9th legion).....right in the middle of nowhere. (North Yorkshire)
By day, we were cutting down the overgrowth.... and we decided to stay overnight to see what it what the place was like at night.....even though locals said it was haunted.

We were tramping through the woods, in the middle of the night, (looking for badger sets).... and I was in front with the torch.
Somehow the others lagged behind and I shone the torch on to a large mound of earth, directly in front of me... amid the trees.

As I shone the torch I realised that the mound of earth went completely round me like a ring.
 
Spooked, I tried to get out of there.... but there were brambles and the more I struggled the more I got stuck.

When I did eventually meet up with the others, we decided to go home but when we got to the car ...it wouldn't start.

It was like there was something there...... and it didn't want us to leave.

Anyway we survived....Blair Witch it wasn't but I'll not be looking for adventures there any time soon.
