You said you haven't seen or spoken to this woman for over a year or more, and only care about the welfare of the kids. People have been telling you for days now to make the call and who to call if you feel the kids are in danger, yet you're still see-sawing back & forth and agonizing over it. So the question is this - how accurate really is the information you're getting second or third hand from other people? Based on that, either make the call or don't - and then get on with living your own life.

Yeah, I am agonizing over it because I don't know for a fact is the truth. I was hoping someone would tell me they had done it and they have. I am responding to other people. I don't think it matters whether I haven't seen her in a year, it does matter that I care that the children will be in a bad spot or that maybe it was a one time relapse. I would like to get more info from the third party. What does it matter that I am responding to subsequent posts about the subject, why are you reading the thread if it seems to frustrate you. Once I confirm what is happening I will then act on it but there is nothing wrong with a pre-emptive "what would you do" which is what this thread is. I will agonize over it because I have not been able to confirm or talk more deeply to the one who knows and said it. If it is not true or it was a one time thing I don't want to call social services, I have never done crack but should I do it once I wouldn't want social services called on me.

She now has a pretty bad pill habit but the other day couldn't get pills so she got crack. I am pretty sure she is going to go back to being a crack hound.
You seem to be sure about her pill habit and that she is going to be a crackhound...either you know her or you don't...either way, make the call to CPS.

"If it is not true or it was a one time thing I don't want to call social services, I have never done crack but should I do it once I wouldn't want social services called on me. "
Lets cut to the chase..this person you are talking about has had a dependency habit in the past..Crack is NOT a one tinme thing...grass, Coke, hi's/lows..they are, can be....crack for one who has been addicted in the past..no.
You call social services , they check it out..if nothing , nothing happens..if something then youb sleep at night.
