We have a rental we have been working on a couple of years, we have bought others we could quickly put into service so keep pushing it back, it has extensive repairs to do.
I added up the expenses from last year and just included them in a line under the fixed asset did not deduct them, but wanted to keep track, have money for property taxes this year and utilities but since it won't be put into service till next year can we deduct these. Can I add last years to the basis?

Add it all to basis since it won't be placed in service until 2017.

Ok, that's what I thought but wasn't sure anymore. Thanks, makes sense to me.
