Question for all of those with the Chase Freedom card: do you know what these extras are for? So since more than 6 months, they add 10% bonus points, plus another 10 points per purchase. Not sure what this is for, or why they added this, but I am not complaining. So if I buy something for $10 (regular purchase, not part of the quarterly promo), I get 10 points (the 1%) plus 1 point (10% bonus) plus 10 point (10 points for every purchase) = 21 points total (2.1%). Of course, the percentage goes down as the amount of the bill goes up ....

I remember Chase telling me that you will get bonus points for being a Chase checking a/c customer and I know you had their a/c before you closed it recently (if my memory serves me correctly). They probably think that you still have a checking a/c with them. ;D

They still give me all the extra points, if that's the case. Cool. Should I call them? Leia, you have an amazing memory! You should use that to your advantage! I just opened the latest bill, looked over the points calculation and was wondering. Thanks Leia!

"Should I call them?" I wouldn't. Come to think of it....it is quite amazing that I am remembering stuffs like this that you, Schildi has closed his chase checking awhile ago. Now, if there's any way I can put this ability to good use.....

Nah, I closed the checking account because they started to charge a fee. Don't want to re-open that account. But I don't really need to, it seems like. They are still giving me the extra points.

Chase is trouble. Stay away. Really? In the last two years, I've gotten about $1250 in rewards and expect to get about $500 this year in rewards. In addition, I've collected $250 for opening 2 checking accounts (they gave me $125 for each account). I've since closed the checking accounts and have received an email offering $150 to open a checking account. I just may do it - again. I've yet to pay a fee and have never had an issue with them. I LIKE Chase!

I had preety much only good experiences with Chase as well. If I would have had problems like toughtimes had, I'd probably say the same thing. But, I am sure you can find countless people who ran into problems with ANY of the big banks, and subsequently hate them.

I hate them with a passion. I had one of their cards, sent a payment in which they lost, sent another payment in immediately and between penalty interest and late fees was out more than the small balance. I also had some issues getting money out of an estate account in their care after my lawyer died. They are thieves. I have never had a problem with Chase. Once I forgot to pay my bill, realized it the day after it was due and called. They looked at my history (I have always paid in full each month) and waived the interest and penalties. Another time I had a fictitious charge on my account. One phone call and it was removed. I also get about $600 in cash back each year just for using their card.
