I am planning on going to visit Costa Rica.
Have you been there? Where?
Good? Bad? Ugly?

I've been there. Reasonably Priced....especially if you eat where the locals eat. Literacy rate is higher than USA 90+ I met many Americans who live there. Just about everybody speaks english.
The sun was wonderful. Pack casual.

Consider when you are going to visit - right now it's coming to the start of the rainy season and accommodations & travel prices will go down, although it may be harder to get around. - Tee Tee is the founder and senior editor of CostaRicaCLOSEUP.com a Travel Guide to Costa Rica with Events, Articles and Information for everyone traveling, retiring and/or purchasing real estate in Costa Rica. I spent 3 months there and loved it. Warm people, nice(if a tad humid) weather, healthy, delicious food, white sand beaches, and cheap accommodation. What more could you want?

I have been and it was amazing. I recommend the La Fortuna area. We stayed at the Arenal Paraiso hotel and it was gorgeous. I don't recommend their restaurant,... though. It is better to go into town and get food. They had many activities (We went horseback riding, rafting, and zip lining). It was amazing....

I went with my high school Spanish class right after I graduated from high school. It was awesome. We were there for about 10 days.
Arenal Volcano was great, we even kayaked on the lake, and the volcano was actually smoking while we were there--something that hadn't happened in many years.
We did a hot springs place too, which was wonderful! We also swam at the bottom of La Fortuna waterfall - something I will never forget!
We went to Jaco Beach and another one that I can't remember.
Go to Monteverde Rain Forest. We zip-lined through it. Awesome. Awesome. Awesome. It was amazing to zip line through the rain forest!
We also went on a horseback riding trip in Monteverde.
