Does anyone watch this ? If you have any type of an engineering background, this is the show for you.

We watch it. Not engineers though. There used to be a show called Robot Wars, which was similar but from the UK.
Dh said something about building one and the kids (ages 6 and 8) are NOT letting him forget it either.

Love this show. I used to watch BattleBots and Robot Wars back in the late 90s/early 00s. Was so happy when they brought it back!
I've also built a battle bot. DH and I took a class at a community college back when we were in grad school. Built a drum spinner named "Ugly Bot" - we didn't manage to stay under the 12 lb limit, so couldn't compete in the official class competition, but we smoked everyone in the rumble afterwards! (With a 12 lb limit, most folks built relatively simple wedge-type bots.)
I also saw one competition live in San Francisco back in 2003 or so. It was a really cool day!
(I am an engineer, but a chemical one. DH is a chemist.)

I think the total weight limit on battle-bots is 250 lbs. and can be split between the main bot and smaller ones and/or drones. Correct me if I'm wrong.

There's numerous weight classes. The "fleaweight" nanoNightmare is adorable! www.robotcombat.com/nanonightmare.html
