Actually many Reagan Democrats or Conservative Democrats do NOT dislike the Tea Party but may not agree with all of their agenda items or be big fans of Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachman...
The Tea Party movement in northern California has been very active lately protesting against both the state and federal government.
One thing they did recently was to drown out the Westboro Baptist Church protestors at a military funeral for a fallen Marine in the SF east bay..

I should have clarified in my message that not all Democrats think like that, just the majority I have talked with so far.

I think and it is just my humble opinion but having Michelle Bachman as the Tea Party Spokesperson has turned off most of the members of both parties. Some of her comments are so far out in right field you cannot believe her..

I think she and a few other high profile figures hurt the teaparty and not just among dems.......... Newtie is trying to ease Michelle Backman out of the limelight and take over as the true spokesman for the Tea Party but that is still a work in progress. He bombed when he tried to address his marital issues by blaming the time he had to spend being a Speaker of the House as the reason for his infidelities...that was not widly accepted by the Tea Party or anyone else who knows Newtie and his baggage.

Yeah, they should just make Rand Paul the spokesman(not sure how that would work with his position already), granted Rand has made a few close calls in public speech but nothing even close to these two.

What precisely has Michelle Bachman said, or done that offends so many people? Every time I hear her speak, I am listening for these wild flaky statements she is so well known for and I don't hear them. I can't find video or audio of her saying anything that 70% of the voters don't already agree with. The only point of contention people might have with her is that she is pro life. But pro-choicers in the Republican Party, and the TEA Party are just going to have to keep an open mind, be tolerant, and make the TEA Party / Republican tent big enough for pro-lifers. Sorry to say it- but you won't find very many people principled enough to stick to fiscal conservatism who are not also principled pro-lifers. In every case, pro-choice people tend to flake out on the serious fiscal issues. Charlie Crist is a great example. Given a choice between a clear conservative leader like Senator Rubio, Rep. Alan West, and Gov. Rick Scott-- voters usually choose the real conservative, and the real conservative is generally a pro-lifer.

That's odd. I don't recall reading a Palmbeachpaul Poll anywhere. If you have polled the American citizenry on how strongly they agree with Bachmann, please direct me to the information. Otherwise, you're making one whopper of an assumption.
The fact that you don't notice her flaky comments means you probably don't realize how flaky they are. There are videos galore displaying her quasi-racist comments about Obama and Muslims, comments calling liberals "anti-American," she was demanding that liberals in congress be subjected to loyalty investigations, etc.
One of my favorites was her nutty quote claiming that it was an "interesting coincidence" that a swine flu epidemic occurred under two Democratic presidents, planting that seed of implication that Democrats were somehow responsible for it. Even congresswomen aren't immune from making causation fallacies.
Then there's the nonsense surrounding her campaign to convince Americans not to fill out the census (which the COTUS grants the government the power to do) because it was used against the Japanese-Americans in WWII. Thus, filling it out might cause you to be rounded up and shoved into internment camps.

SD: P.I., I used to be a big Michelle Bachman fan, that is until she voted to extend the patriot act. Now I am very disappointed in her. I hope she eventually sees the error of her ways and puts a stop to the implementation of 'police state Amerika'.

It has nothing to do with the fiscal responsiblity angle... however, i will gladly argue how fiscally RESPONSIBLE it is to cut programs like WIC and head start and pell grants and education without addressing the big drains, which most certainly includes our defense budget... responsilbity includes the ability to plan long range, and avoiding debt for our children by allowing them to grow up hungry, malnourished and ignorant... is also not long term sustainable...
One problem is that there is no 'one' tea party... so to keep a 'legitimate' faction separate from the crazy wings is difficult... and complicated by the fact that apparently sane people can't seem to separate the fiscal responsibility tenets from the crazy at times... and seem to champion Bauchman and Palin and Beck (etc.) ....

IMO,Beck,Palin, Bachmann,Williams, Angle,ODonnell, etc have alienated the moderates from both political parties. And since they are associated with the tea party........
