so you can get a good look at the supermoon? A storm just blew in here, and it's supposed to rain pretty much all weekend, so we probably won't be able to see it.
ETA - Oops... thought I was on EE. If a mod sees this feel free to move it.

Wow, thanks for the heads up! It should be clear here in Phoenix, so I'll try to remember to see it.

Yeah, it's always cloudy anytime anything good happens in the heavens... there's also alot of light pollution here.
How cool is it the Messager 'space craft' is now orbiting Mercury... ooo I wonder if the Mars Rovers will be coming out of hibernation... I know one of them is probably 'dead' but I think NASA is still hoping it will respond if it gets enough sun...

Yeah, it's always cloudy anytime anything good happens in the heavens... there's also alot of light pollution here. I hear ya. Living on the coast isn't real conducive to good stargazing either. Seems like we always have either have real cloud cover or marine layer fog/clouds, we're at sea level so the air is thick anyway, and we've got light pollution issues from San Jose. I usually have to get creative when I take the kids out. There are some gorgeous houses in the hills outside of town that have been foreclosed on, and their driveways make pretty good quick and easy observatories.

Our sky will probably be clear but I was there when the stars were hung and I'm not staying up again.

Partly cloudy, high near 80 today. I'm definitely going to try to catch moonrise tonight, although it's a little difficult without a good horizon. The lunar eclipse earlier this year was easy to get from my backyard. But the next good meteor shower I'm heading west toward a state park with high land and far less "light" pollution. I just hope it isn't in the middle of winter. Perhaps the Pleides in August?

I was a little bit let down; it was a very nice full moon, but not terribly noteworthy. QofCC, where in general are you? I think the west coast just didn't get the full monty.

Western NY. The moon was coming up in a direction away from the lights of town, so it was a nice view.
