Basing this thread on the book (movie) The Big Short and asking the question: Where are the opportunities today? I'm not necessarily interested in shorting anything- though I'm open to it (e.g. shorting the US Dollar?) but rather I'm wondering where the 489% (if you have seen and recall the end of the movie) return is now?

Shorting private student loans comes to mind. I'm sure that debt is toxic. The ability to whomp on the debtors does not translate into collectability. Unfortunately, I don't know of an appropriate vehicle for doing the shorting.

Comic book movies but they still seams to make of a lot of money in the overseas markets even if doing bad in the USA.
