Yep, It's their Holy month for them. Kill as many innocent people this month as you can! And mix in a wanted terrorist - who operates openly in Pakistan - calling for the end of our civilization...

Attacks outside the US don't count. Not for Mr. Trump. It's just riff-raff killing riff-raff to him.
In fact, if he has a stake in a Trump Aerodrome somewhere it may even be good for his business!
My apologies for the cynicism, but this thread isn't exactly buzzing with the concern, woe, and sympathy we saw in the Orlando thread. Perhaps Mr. Trump is simply more candid in admitting that we care about who we care about and we don't care about who we don't care about.

Or maybe seeing how the last thread went on this, people have opted out of rehashing the same thing again. We pretty much know where everyone stands on this, so why comment again and go thru the same bs again. Not worth it anymore. I'll pass.

I saw that. If we merge the two threads, we would almost get up to a full page. Merge it if you want, but the other thread questioned whether ISIS was responsible for the bombing. I have no such illusions whether ISIS or whoever did it. It was radical Islamic terrorists. My thread is in direct response to the other thread, which morphed into an attack on gays, lesbians, and white males rather than an Islamic extremist attack on Americans. P.S. I think I started the discussion first, so I like my title better.

I'm guessing people aren't responding to this thread because they can't search endlessly to find anyone else to blame other than who is to blame. We can't blame the NRA, we can't blame homosexuals, we can't blame bad parenting, we can't blame Obama, Clinton or Trump...how dull is it to actually blame who is to blame? What more can be said? It's not that people don't care - it's just there isn't much up for discussion.

There must have been at least a hundred such comments in the last elephant thread. Cecil the lion racked up easily twice that, and just as many posts demanding justice and vengeance. No, I think the brutally honest truth is that nobody here really cares (in anything more than an academic sense) about a bombing in Turkey. That's neither a good or a bad thing; it just is. Mr. Trump's comments reflect that reality. You can't blame him for that.

I just don't know enough about what happened to have much to say. I'm not about to run with what the media gives me right after something like this happens. I've learned where that leads and I don't care to go there. I'm keeping up but have no comment at this time regarding what's behind it all.

First of all, I rarely post emoticons unless absolutely necessary because I think they are stupid. Secondly, to me, that simply isn't sufficient when we are talking about dead and injured innocent men, women and children. You are a bit jaded, Virgil...and maybe for good reason. Just don't get so jaded that you think you know what others are feeling. That's past "jaded" and heading towards something I know you aren't.

I agree with mmhmm on the humanitarian side. Also Turkey is an important NATO ally and in a precarious position on who to defend and who to fight with these terrorists groups.

Just don't get so jaded that you think you know what others are feeling. That's past "jaded" and heading towards something I know you aren't. I'm making deductions based on observations. Perhaps the term "nobody" is too harsh, but the fact remains that if we eliminated all the ISIS, gun control, and "what motivated the shooter" material from the previous elephant thread, we'd still wind up with 50 times as great an outpouring of grief, concern, and sympathy as we've ultimately witnessed in these two new elephant threads combined. The only two posts that qualify are by Optimist in the other thread. If YMAM is the standard, Demin certainly has no basis on which to chew out Mr. Trump for indifference. That's my only objection here.

You'll feel how you feel, Virgil. I'm simply asking you to consider that, perhaps, people have other reasons for not posting. I don't post in the abortion threads because there is no point. I don't post in the gun control threads (much) because there is no point. Actually, there is no point in most of them! I think maybe threads like the elephant and lion are one of the few things people can actually come together on. It's rare when somebody thinks that's not horrible. Maybe for just a few minutes some of us just want to get along and get together. Perhaps that's part of the reason for the responses.

Rather than talking about a horrible mass death incident, posting wilted roses and sad smileys, I would rather talk about how we are bombing the shit out of them.
www.cnn.com/2016/06/30/middleeast/iraq-militants-airstrike/
The US has blown up 120 of their vehicles as they attempt to flee Falluja. Coalition and Iraqi forces have destroyed a lot as well. Each vehicle packed with angry ISIS radicals.
I'm trying to feel compassion for the dead ISIS fighters, because my religion expects me to be compassionate to all of my fellow men, but I admit there are times I stray from the religious straight and narrow. This is one of them. It pleases me to think of how many of them are now in the afterlife, unhappy that they didn't get their expected allotment of virgins.
At least we don't have to worry about THOSE ISIS fighters blowing up any more innocent civilians...

I seriously doubt they are giving Trump much thought at all. And no, it is not obvious they want "the end of the world war with us". Only a fraction of them are 'suicide' fighters.

I agree with mmhmm on the humanitarian side. Also Turkey is an important NATO ally and in a precarious position on who to defend and who to fight with these terrorists groups. A few years back when this whole thing with ISIS started, the Kurds offered to take the fight to the nut cases but they required some help with equipping their troops and when necessary air support from US or NATO. US offered full support and since we have an Air Force base in Turkey, the air support when and if needed. Turkey threatened with closing the AF base and made a big stink about US trying to arm "dangerous people" The Kurds as a people, are split in between Turkey, Iraq and Iran in that general area and have been wanting for long their own free state. They have been giving trouble to the Turks once in a while. Now the Ankara government was afraid that if US arms them, when is all set and done, they will turn their guns on Ankara. To some extent, the Turks have brought it on themselves, all this confusion.

I fight that battle within all the time. I console myself in the knowledge that God will not judge me harshly for not feeling compassion for pure evil. I can't say I'm pleased but I won't even pretend I'm sorry.

I have the same problem. We are told to pray for everyone, even our enemies. I see this hate and wish they weren't born. How can they be convinced to kill innocent people in the name of their god? I've read that most of them are young, uneducated and easily manipulated. You don't see the leaders as suicide boomers.
