EDIT:now up 7.44% day before earnings..........evidently someone got info early 
No trader would risque buying a stock up  7% on potential of a big miss tomorrow.
Volume is such that shorts are not covering a short position imo.
I do not get it.

Value Buy, it does look like short covering to me. There were 17% of the float shares shorted or about 12 million shares. The total volume for the day was 2 million compared to average volume of 0.8 million. The short ratio was 15.4 days to cover. If this wasn't short covering, I think there will definitely be an SEC investigation.
