Long sleeves, but it's silk. A little too flared for me, but... (GRG starts to consider staying home... There are so many more options for winter weddings.)

I like the long sleeve silk one. I also liked the flowy uneven hem one too. Either would be a good choice! I'm not a fan of the striped one, I think it's too casual looking.

I really like this dress -- probably because of the color -- but I think I will drown in sweat in it in July...

Let me think about that one. I have looked at stylewe before. Has anyone bought from them? I like this one -- simple but different. But it is "free size". I am assuming that means "one size fits all" but the bust size listed is only 29". Maybe before breastfeeding 2 kids including one who kept it up until he turned 2...

I love the blue dresses, but won't that be a bit hot in July (dark color)? I don't see anything wrong with a white dress, with some color on it. Or some other lighter colors, yellow, pink, blue, etc.
Love this!!!

It's also, according to yelp, probably a scam site from china. Where you order one thing and receive something completely different.

Uh, wear it to both weddings? If it's not family you won't be in photos.

The (other) female folk tend to take notice of outfits. (I know, I know... ) Sometimes. I guess it depends on how much time between the two. Though if that bow is detectable you could switch it for a bright belt, and either a shawl type thing or big clunky necklace or cardigan that's colorful and it'd be harder to remember its the same dress.

I'm wearing the same dress to three weddings. Two are on the same day, so just hopping from one to the other. The other one is on a different side of the family so they'll never know.

K, it seems the nays are ahead, which, to be honest, I agree with which is why I asked in the first place -- I wanted to make sure I wasn't thinking too old-school. People dress down now for everything so it was possible that the "white" rule no longer applied. But, it seems it still does and this is NOT the wedding to test it. This will be the 3rd out-of-state-wedding in 8 months, so I was trying to find something that would multi-task because the costs are starting to really add up and because I also need something to wear to YDS' high school graduation next month. Back to shopping...ugh... Both my kids had High School Graduation at Miller Park. It was very nice because you could get as many tickets as you wanted, and as the graduates came in/walked across the stage you could watch everything on the Jumbotron. Casual attire was the rule. I wore a white casual jacket over a Designer T-shirt and Capri Dress Pants to DS's Grad and a 3/4 length black sweater twinset from White House/Black Market and a pair of tan capris and heels to DD's grad. Both times we had dinner at TGI Friday's at the Ballpark.

My SIL's niece got married on the beach. SIL is really tiny as are her girls. They wore casual dresses a few inches above the knee, SIL was a blue/orange Baltic print and my one niece had a causula mint green dress with a skinny belt and the other niece had like a chiffon blue polka dot dress. My brother had a short sleeve chamby shirt with a collar, and Kaki pants on and nephew dressed very similarly but had a long sleeve shirt with the tabs to roll up the sleeves on, There are a few women in pants, and a few men is shorts. There also were a few full length dresses, but they all looked casual and light weight. No one had white on other than the bride.

women do it to themselves. Although, truth be told, if I could find one dress that I really love, I would honestly have no problem wearing it to everything. I have a friend whose family is deeply wealthy -- in "she's the granddaughter of the founder of a successful hotel chain" wealthy. She works for the hotel chain, but at a corporate low-level management kind of job. The company pays for her Honda Accord and I believe lent her the money for her to buy her 3/2 ranch in a wealthy suburb on very advantageous terms. Still, her salary is under 6 figures and she has 2 young kids, a DH who sells real estate, and a nanny to support. She could certainly still afford to buy multiple outfits, but every year she buys "the wedding guest dress" that she faithfully wears to every wedding during that year. It is always a simple sheath that she adds to with different accessories to change it up a bit. Until now, I've only had a wedding every few years at, best, so bought an outfit for each. But now, the younger generation is starting to walk down the aisle with enough regularity that I am going to have to buy myself "the wedding guest dress". I was okay without said dress until the third invitation in 8 months unexpectedly arrived. Now I think I have to be on a mission...

I was going to say the dress Pants Picked from Banana Republic was fine. The Mother of the bride wore a similar dress to beach wedding I was talking about earlier. I think there is enough navy in that dress that no one would consider you trying to compete with the bride.
I also really like the dress kittensaver posted, that was similar in style and fabric to what most of the dresses at my SIL's nieces wedding looked like.
eta, no one in my family would care if you wore the same dress to more than one wedding. I was shocked when attending weddings b/c many of them did not bother to buy new dresses, wore stuff years out of fashion. They have money, but live in a rural area. I don't think Shopping is a pastime they enjoy and I don't think they have much opportunity to wear dresses. Their casual wear is always really stylish and trendy on FB - so to each his own. My SIL and her sisters are known to borrow dresses from each other, so I wouldn't worry about wearing a dress twice in front of them. (My SIL has $$ too, she just is not a dress wearing person. My brother and SIL spend their $$ on family vacations, not clothes.
My Mom is going to a wedding this summer for one of my Cousin's kids and I reminded her that at the last wedding, most of my Aunts had on pant suits.

Beach Brides don't seem to mind casual clothing - at all. Linen and silk in breezy/blowsy, casual dresses are almost de rigueur here on the sands of La La Land.
But they STILL DO mind folks who wear white. Go figure. So be a good sport and wear cream, or peach, or blue, or pink, or basically anything except white.

It is always a simple sheath that she adds to with different accessories to change it up a bit. So steal a page out of her playbook. I agree that a simple sheath (in a really beautiful fabric like slubbed silk and a color that flatters your skin tone) can be dressed up or down in dozens of ways. Just add or subtract sweaters, shawls, belts, statement necklaces, shoes, scarves, etc etc etc).

I once wore the same suit to two weddings. true story. Me too! Both were weddings on my husband's side of the family. Husband (voted "Best Dressed" in high school and seems to think he needs to live up to that for the rest of his life) freaked out. We argued about it. I wore the same outfit anyway. No one noticed (or if they did never said anything to me; don't care if anyone commented behind my back). I loved the outfit, it was comfortable and I felt great in it. I'm not a celebrity who is dressed by designers. I buy my clothes with the intention of wearing them many times so this didn't even phase me until fashion-forward hubby reacted in horror at my choice.
