Someone just suggested a thread like this, so here it is. We can do the What's in your pantry after the freezer has been taken care of.
So, here goes :
2 single containers taco soup 3 containers chicken taco soup 2 (1)containers tuna & noodle casserole (yucky but will finish it)
1 Fresh Market mini chicken pot pie 6 (5)single containers chili
3 Jimmy Dean breakfast bowls 1 Healthy Choice Steamer frozen dinner 63 ct. Lawlers mini cheesecake (about 1/3 gone) 8 (7) single containers potato casserole
1 container salt free beef broth 1 Walmart flat bread pizza 1/2 package mini meat balls 2 Fresh Market chicken sante fe chickens 1 Fresh Market chicken cordon bleu 4 mini meat loaves from neighbor for after my surgery 1 pkg. diced ham 2 Fresh Market bacon cheddar burgers 3(2) Kraft recipe mini meat loaves
1/2 chicken meant for chicken & dumplings 1 Fresh Market chicken Oscar 1/2# cooked bacon 0 mini apple crisp -homemade 2 Fresh Market mini apple crisp Birdseye veggies: peppers & onion, peas, corn, mixed veggies. ADDED: 3 individual containers of orange juice
I tossed a lot of pork chops that even in a Seal A Meal were freezer burned, steaks in the same condition, along with a couple of beef roasts. Also dumped some Red Lobster cheddar cheese biscuits that were not to appetizing.
I'd count the 30 # of butter, but then I'd have to tell the story that my late DH was always afraid of running out of butter and these were on sale at Walmart of $1.84 per pound.
I will tape the list to the freezer door and cross off as I use things....nothing more will be bought for the freezer until this stuff is gone.

this is an excellent idea. I have a small chest freezer and an upright top freezer full unit in my basement, as well as a side-by-side in the kitchen for the "just in time" stuff, to use a mfg term. we actually just reorganized this past weekend. I love the list idea, I'd just have to have a couple different lists. here's what I have, off the top of my head. I'll take a look when I get home and update as needed. kitchen freezer: 6 "muffin" servings of potato leek soup 6 "muffin" servings of black bean and kale soup x portions of cooked rotisserie chicken x portions of cooked turkey x bags of frozen veggies 1 bag of spinach raviolis 1/3 bag jalapeno pierogis 3 bananas 1 pint B&J peanut butter ice cream 2 pints Talenti gelato 1 pint homemade coffee tequila ice cream 1 sleeve hash browns half a bag of eggos 2 nips of Fireball 2 peanut butter-filled Kongs (for the pups) upright basement freezer: 1 BJ's pack of cheese tortellini 7 boneless pork chops 1 thick-cut pork chop 1/2 a cut up chicken 3 split bone-in chicken breasts x bone-in chicken thighs x boneless chicken thighs 2 Bertolli meals 1 6-pk Thomas's English muffins 1/2 bag of frozen boneless chicken breasts - for black bean chicken x bags of frozen veggies 1 lg container of homemade sauce x (8?) 1.5c containers of homemade chicken stock x pkg of breakfast sausage chest freezer: 2 Red Baron pizzas 4 boxes of GG broccoli and cheese sauce 1 8lb turkey 1 roaster chicken x bags of tater tots/crispy crowns x BSCB

I have a lot of freezer space. Without looking...
Just under a side of beef (DS has been gnawing away at it) Remains of a pig (was a half pig, still have a ham and some sausage) 100 pounds of chicken, give or take Bacon, lots and lots of bacon Sausage links--DS doesn't like them like I thought he would, so I won't restock those Vegetables-- mostly stir fry or "california blend" Also have some broccoli and brussel sprouts (I still haven't tried them), have some shredded zucchini as well Fruit-- cubed cantaloupe, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries Fish--tuna, salmon Shrimp 2 pounds of yeast hashbrowns (unless DS ate them all) butter ETA: two racks of ribs and some other pork roasts
I'm smoking a 9 pound pork shoulder today, so some of that will probably make its way to the freezer. I need to make more stuff to freeze individually, haven't done that for a while.

I have 2lbs of frozen broccoli, that is all. The garage freezer is unplugged. The only pantry food I have now is rice and beans and lentils and flour and sugar, frig has a zucchini. 4 chili peppers 5 eggs and about 8oz cheese. I try to keep very little food in the house so I don't over eat.

Nothing in my upright freezer. DS left the door open. This happened to me a couple years ago. It sucked, had to close the door, let it all freeze again, and then toss it. Such a waste.

How can anyone possibly have uneaten cheesecake wasting away in a freezer? I only have the freezer bin under my fridge. It has bags of frozen fruit for smoothies, some hamburger, a whole chicken, some shrimp, and some bacon. And a few odds & ends that are no longer identifiable...and unmarked, because of course I had no doubt I would remember what was in such a small freezer. I've been debating getting a small freezer to put in the laundry room. I've been doing a bit more batch cooking in the pressure cooker and would like to save some of that. Plus stock up on some meats as well.

Commiserating here. I also have found a half-thawed freezer with the door open...
That lead to The Huge Family Cook-a-thon (cook-a-tonne?), since items were still at least refrigerator cold. (I actually refroze some still frozen veggies and berries, since not much could have happened to them during that time since they hadn't had time to thaw.)
Then we needed to go buy plastic baggies and containers suitable for one or four meals. They took up more freezer space than the uncooked food did, so we got a family evening of 3D-puzzling too. The meals were chosen according to the space they took in the freezer during the following weeks.
I have two upright freezers which are chiefly used for store sale "bargains" and for the yearly "harvest", so there is still a lot in them. Right now, it is time to make sure that the berries and fruits are getting eaten on schedule; the new harvest starts in three months (the end of June or in July with strawberries).

I have a Google docs list of the meat stuff. That's what I tend to forget what we have. Besides that I have cheesy garlic bread, pound of butter, homemade burritos, homemade calzones, steam in a bag rice, at least one container of chiver's pulled chicken, probably some chicken broth, and various veggies. Tonight we need to debone the 9 pounds of chicken thighs and get them packaged and in the freezer.

I'm not saying it isn't still a giant waste to the family. but if you have meat that unfreezes, look for a local zoo, etc. we have a local exotics rescue and they take fresh road kill, freezer burned meats, etc. they'd love it if my freezer broke down ... I'd still be upset, but at least the meat would go to a good cause. I usually go through every few years and rotate some of the bottom stuff to the cause.

I don't have a freezer, aside from the small one that's part of my fridge. I have 3 bags of shrimp that I bought on sale, some bacon for my son, a pound of butter, a package of chicken drumsticks and some turkey sausages.

You guys are really organized. I have two packed freezers & really have no idea what is in them. I have some birds my brother shot. Some chicken, some burger, so WW ice cream bars & a bunch of frozen dinners for lunches. The rest is a bunch of mystery containers. Most are labeled.

Twice a year I take everything out and let the freezer defrost. During that time I organize all the stuff that goes back in, and as it's loaded it goes on a list of how many and of what. As it used, items get crossed off and amounts remaining are updated.

Hmm, just off the top of my head (I did a freezer/fridge/pantry inventory a month ago). I'm trying to eat up what got frozen last fall so some of the counts may be off.
Fruit: store bought bag of frozen raspberries 2 1/2 pints frozen blackberries
Bread: a couple of english muffins, a couple of sandwich buns, a pack of whole wheat pocket pitas, a package of whole wheat flat bread
Soup: 2 cups (tupperware) of Pumpkin Curry Soup
Meat: 4 - 1 pound packs of chix legs and thighs 2 Weight Watcher frozen dinners (sweddish meat balls and probably a chicken one)
Not Meat: 2 boxes of Bocca Chix patties 1 box of Aldi's veggie patties 1 package of tempeh 1 package of extra firm tofu 2 weight Watcher frozens dinners (some sort of pasta and sauce) 2 Amy's frozen dinners (Curry of some sort mmmmmmm curry....)
Block of parmesan cheese (from the Italian specialty store) storebought package of shredded mixed Italian cheeses 2 pounds of butter
Veggies: 4 - 1 pound bags of Butternut squash (from last fall) (for mac and cheese and soup) 1 - 1 pound bag of Kobocha squash (from last fall's garden - experiment to see how well it freezes). 5 - 12 ounce bags of fresh cranberries (from last fall) (need for making jam) 4 quart sized bags with frozen beets (assorted kinds - from last fall). Candy of the Vegetable world! Store bought bag o' frozen broccoli bits Store bought bag o' california mix veggies Store bought bag o' peas 4 boxes of chopped spinach about 8 cut up peppers (yellow, green, red, orange) individually wrapped a couple of quart bags filled with various hot peppers: Jalepenos, Habaneros, serrannos, thai, and a couple mystery peppers. (for cooking and making jam).
Then there's all the frozen garlic - a tub of garlic paste, cubes of roasted garlic, and about 20 individual cloves left. Then there's the cubes of pesto: traditional basil, pea shoot, and a couple of garlic scape. Then there's the chipotle peppers in adobo sauce (from a can) and finally: I think there's: a couple 2 cup containers of cooked Kale (with onions and garlic) from last fall a couple 2 cup containers of cooked cabbage (with onions) from last fall
and a 1 cup container of spaghetti sauce (left over from a jar)
whew!

I don't have a freezer, aside from the small one that's part of my fridge. I have 3 bags of shrimp that I bought on sale, some bacon for my son, a pound of butter, a package of chicken drumsticks and some turkey sausages. That sounds like a "normal person" food supply! I remember a time when I didn't even keep that much. Now, we have this big ass freezer that it's stuffed to the top with all sorts of things, things named with names that I can't even pronounce sometimes. Truth to be told, I don't realy care! I just eat the food and rarely ask what is it called. Things that I recall having in the chest freezer: - moose, elk, deer, fish, shrimp, a whole smoked ham(basicaly the whole leg), sausage of a few kinds, chicken and a whole lot of zucchini Its like we are getting ready for the Apocalypse!

Right now we put in four Bud Lights and six wine coolers for 5pm eastern, tonight.
Twelve pounds of clear ice cubes Two pounds ground round two loaves of bread one pkg Klondike bars one pkg fruit bars two lbs of bacon miscellaneous frozen veggies one loaf garlic bread
Two wrapped pkgs of a week's conglomeration of meat garbage for trash pick up tomorrow- I do not know how anyone puts meat scraps in their can in Florida any earlier than a day before pick up. The neighborhood can smell like a bunch of dead bodies being stored in the garages.
