The 'smoothies' thread inspired me to tell you something. Since I was a kid I do not remember ever liking fruits nor vegetables. I lived in city by Ukrainian villages where all these goods were widely available and my parents could afford to feed me with all I wanted.
However not then not now I have EVER desire for produce! I do not eat none of it. No apple no tomatoe NONE!!! My food is bread, potatoes, fish, MEAT, pizza...etc. you know. I am cooking from scratch every day and my family eats salads every day. Mom just had spinach with kale and dressing and I wanted it. However I just took one fork and chewed it and swallowing wasn't pleasant at all! My husband eats tomatoe/cucumbers/onions/dill/parsley/lettuce salad EVERY DAY! He can't not to. Mom also, DD thankfully loves salads as well.
Is there any explanation to this and is anyone like me here?

My DH doesn't like fruits and vegetables because of the texture. Do you like the flavor, just not how it feels?

I'm not big on most vegetables, but I do like salads with all the fixings. Not sure why putting it in a salad bowl changes things, but I'll have romaine, cucumbers, red peppers, tomatoes, and sprouts galore then. I guess it's the Thousand Island dressing. I like most fruits and usually bring two mandarin oranges and a banana to work every day.

We eat a lot of fruits and veggies. When I was keeping track, easily 40-50% of my grocery bill was produce.
Between TD and myself, there are very few things we don't like. He doesn't like pears, I don't like kale. That's pretty much the extent of our dislikes.

Being a Produce store owner I could had those by the box! Of course I had TRIED but it never went further than one segment. Though I can say it taste good but I don't want it!!! hmmmm?

I love Clementines! I hate how they sell them here though. You have to buy a huge bag of them. I can never eat them all before they go bad. I generally end up giving some away. I like SOME fruits and veggies but don't eat near enough. I do like juice though. I have started drinking the V8 Fushion Organge/Carrot/Kiwi juice (just one 8oz glass each morning). It is just fruits and veggies. No added sugar or anything. I think it is 75% juice and 25% water. I am "that person" who counts a slice of tomato with a few spinach leafs on a sandwich as a veggie for the day.

Huge pot of beef stew...
Just made batch of Hamburgers. BTW using McCormick Montreal Steak seasoning makes them irresistible! No salt. It has plenty. Bon apetite!

Most raw veggies are fairly crunchy. For years he wouldn't touch any kind of salad, until I coaxed him into eating a Cesar salad, and he actually likes those (I think it's just a platform for the cheese, crotons and salad dressing, though). He also hated raw tomatoes and cooked ones for a long time (only ate tomato paste) but I coaxed him into trying petite cut stewed tomatoes and he likes those (the bigger pieces of stewed tomatoes have 'strings' in them, according to DH).
You might try some 'soft' veggies and fruits. Cooked asparagus, for example. Or cut the rind off a mango and try that (make sure it's ripe, though, or it will be hard and kind of sour). Or a ripe banana. If you like yogurt, try mixing some canned mandarin orange slices into vanilla yogurt.
Just keep trying different things, I bet you will find a few you like. They're so good for you!!

Citruses stays in a fridge forever! Check the temperature in yours. And carefully on juices. It is not a healthy food! Read labels. Its better to have a spring water that juices. I don't know ONE that is good. Maybe vegetable once but...doubt it. Water is the thang!

I am almost 50! And I owned fruit store. Trust me, I had tried em all! And my conclusion was IF your body doesn't ASK for it - forget it! Give it what it wants...like that pot od beef stew with potatoes!!!

LOL, I believe the Chef Boy Ar Dee label that there are a serving of vegetables in there.
I go though phases where I can't get enough of the original V8 juice. I have a 6-pack sitting on my counter that I haven't had any desire for in months.

How are you not 300 lbs? I do like a fair amount of fruits and veggies. I just finished my lunch: homemade hummus, red pepper strips, pita chips, and strawberries.

I'm pretty much the same way. I don't like the way most vegetables taste. I tolerate some of them better if they're cooked and doctored up. I don't dislike the taste of most fruits. I'd just rather eat something else instead.

How are you not 300 lbs? I do like a fair amount of fruits and veggies. I just finished my lunch: homemade hummus, red pepper strips, pita chips, and strawberries. Who, me? I was 250lb. Ate the same but in quantities!!! NOW I eat same sandwich but half or less. Just ordered Popeye chicken with mush potatoes! Will probably able to gobble in 2 pieces if so.
I am positive you can get fat on healthy food if amount consumed will stretch your stomach to enormous size.
We started out refusing all the breads, potatoes, rice, pasta...for about 2 month. Weight started come down and it keeps going down very slowly. But DH's lab results are super! My cholesterol is up though because I eat more crap. I am taking it under control though... Always had great labs at 250Lb...

And somehow I can't use it or anything BUT burgers. Too strong. And chicken one not even close to the steak one. I think steak one is their perfection! Also they started creamy sauces...YUMM! And those bags with marinades...easy, clean and taste awesome! Specially Pot Roast one... I have one sitting there in a bag marinating for tomorrow.

I like fresh veggies and fruits because there are no additives. Don't many of those drinks contain a lot of salt and sugar? I know they advertise a low salt variety of some, but still has some additives.

I love fruit, but i am extremely picky about vegetables. I have a few that I like... but most I don't. However, I am a grown up and eat vegetables anyway. there are many that I don't like, but they aren't so horrible that I can't eat them. so i just put on my big girl pants and do what is good for me.
If i ate bread potatoes meat and pizza as the basis for my diet... I'd be morbidly obese.

those prepackaged marinades are so full of sodium and horrible crap for you. If you are working on being healthier, actually making the marinade from scratch is much better for you. My husband has cooked with them before and each time I've eaten what he's made I blow up like a balloon! You say you cook from scratch... so you shouldn't have a problem throwing together a marinade.

Marinades are simple to make. Basically oil and vinegar (or another acid like lemon juice) mixed with spices of your choice. McCormick spices of course.

This is why all diets are failing because people go hungry and angry and later off the hook - whole pizza goes down like children to school! We need fat! Fat free is crap! Blue milk is crap! I better drink a few sips of half and half that skimmed. But of course they would prefer pitcher of the skim.
My eating habits are just like now 1 piece of popeye chicken, few bites of a bisquit and mash potato a few bites. All together could be placed on the palm of my hand. And my body will process it as supposed to because I am not stuffed as a Christmas goose!

Beige food? Have you seen Salmon? Ketchup on my BROWN burger is pretty red! And cheese in my cheesesteak is YELLOW! And mustard on my hot dog! YELLOW!
