Someone posted this on the page as a warning about giving your animals away on Facebook. I hope he gets treated as well in prison as those dogs he murdered. Scumbag.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT I WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know right? My son is obsessed with Welsh Corgis. He thinks they're the funniest dogs ever with their stubby little legs. I'm not as convinced that's what I want (if and when we ever get another dog), but the puppies sure are adorable. They re absolutely FREAKING adorable but unfortunately, when our cats go the only dog we will be looking at will be a service dog for DH and Corgis are a little too low to the ground. He needs a Marmaduke for the stability and height to help him get around. Once DH is gone, THEN I might get a Corgi, when I get to wherever I am going.

I can't even read those articles. I opened it, saw the picture of the poor dog and had to close it again.
This is why I can't move to town. I get all these critters that were rescues and I don't trust rehoming them. The ponies were both abused, the goats weren't rescues, but they'd probably end up on someone's plate. My horse is old....

I hear you. We do have a really good shelter/rescue for these things, like your horse and goat, but alas they are in Mass., not Minn.

DH and I were talking about doggy health histories and the fat Corgi someone in our old neighborhood had. Poor thing was a roly-poly from hell. I hate to think of what it's spine was like. Poor thing.

I can't join those Pets for Sale groups. I am in a Freecycle group where people are always wanting puppies or kittens. A few months later, the same people are giving them away because they don't have time for them or can't afford them. Then a few months later, the same people are asking for puppies or kittens again.
When told about a no-kill shelter and the humane society, they always say they can't afford it.
When I got my Lucy from the Humane Society. she had been vetted, spayed (over a year old), microchipped and current on shots. Because I'm a senior, I paid $25 for her and she is my best friend. Plus they gave me coupons that bought a lot of food and litter, etc.
Some people shouldn't have pets in this world. They just go through them like they are disposable.

My mother got her last cat from the MSPCA here in Mass. I had to go with her to meet the cat and make sure it would like me because we all knew that it would become mine at some point. We loved each other and she was an adored member of the family until I had to put her down about a year and a half ago due to horrid heath issues. I still miss my mom's Chloe cat. I could never do those groups. I'd be wanting to hunt those people down and beating the shit out of them. That or taking all the animals in and I only have so much room! And no money to afford them.

I'm tired of the poor pitiful me posts in the Freecycle group and not just about the pets. Sounds like they treat their kids the same way. Yes, I'm judging, but they disclose so much about themselves and then get mad when people ask why are you having another baby? The usual response is I'm Catholic and don't believe in birth control. So you are bringing another child in to the world without a father in the house that you can't afford to care for. Wonderful.

I'm with you on that - it's not just the pets...people share EVERYTHING now, "My kids and I are getting kicked out of our apartment and I'm 8mos pregnant with my 5th and we need diapers and a car seat and my oldest needs size 7 pants and formula coupons would be great and does anyone have a king sized bed and if anyone has an apartment in town close to schools for $200/mo that would be awesome". Typed just as I did. And they ignore it when anyone suggests ANYTHING other than "yes I have free stuff you can have" and then it's just "Can you deliver it because I don't have a car". Sometimes they are on a month later looking for a FREE pitbull puppy for their 8 year old son because he loves dogs...... It's difficult not to judge, well, not difficult but frustrating I guess.

I've posted this before, but I am against people getting a puppy while pregnant. I know it works out for some people, but so many times on baby boards you'd see someone do it and then be back about how hard it was to deal with a baby and a dog both under a year old.

I do end up judging so I quit the group today. They ask for others to furnish their entire home and then want pictures and no, that is the wrong color. Of course, they can't drive and need it delivered. It's all going to Goodwill from now on. They even tell people to please not to donate to our local charities because then I will have to buy it. My goodness. Actually pay money for it? Maybe then everything in their life wouldn't be so throwaway. I'm done reading their sob stories and then the way they get so picky.

I have puppy fever, bad. If I had a big house, with lots of land, I would probably rescue every dog at the pound. We saw a "chug" (chihuahua and pug) today and it was the cutest thing ever. I won't buy one though. I will wait until we move and then go to a rescue. Big Yellow dog was a rescue and he needs a friend.

If one is in a rescue group, I want to take it home right away.

Stray pregnant cat isn't pregnant anymore. She disappeared April 1 but return April 2 not pregnant, don't know where the kittens are but she showed up to eat then gone again. My cousin's ex girl friend wants one when they are ready so if the mom brings them around for the free food when they are old enough I will get her one, I know she loves animals. I might try selling some for like $20 if people we know don't want any, not giving them away as snake food.

Im not catholic so maybe Im wrong...but aren't they also against premarital sex? so for them to blame getting pregnant on the Catholic Church is crazy

I was raised Roman Catholic, including schooling. I suspect that the cockeyed logic is that if you're using BC that's an extra sin. And if you actually took responsibility for BC by taking pills or buying condoms, then you're a really Bad Girl because you planned to do it.
To me, the bigger sin is bringing a baby you can't afford to feed into the world. That's why I'm now an Episcopalian.

You repent and promise to try harder. But to just PLAN to sin? It's kind of like the difference between manslaughter and 1st degree murder.

I can't deal with that reasoning and I am not going to give them things to help them raise the children they can't afford. They get from me whatever their tax dollars give them. Since they talked about WIC so much, they are getting something from me.

She is the biggest one to come back with I'm Catholic and don't believe in birth control. I thought they don't believe in abortions...but birth control You don't have to believe in it - it is out there! Just use it!!!

They don't believe in GETTING an abortion or USING birth control. Pretty sure they know and believe it exists or they wouldn't be protesting it so much.
