Hampton Farms roasted peanuts in the shell--too many rotten peanuts and too many empty peanut shells. I need to find shelled peanuts that are not made in equipment with or possibly contain tree nuts.

I've heard this company does that americasbestnutco.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=1 but I don't see that confirmed on their page.

I won't buy the produce with a $1 off sticker on the package and the expiration date tomorrow. No matter how much I eat, I always end up eating it too slow and throwing away more than the $1 I saved.

I guess you don't have any peanut farms up there huh GRG? My mom's backyard neighbor is a field an there used to be peanuts there. Her aunt would wander out and pull up a handful now and then. You'd have to shell yourself but you'd be sure to not cross contaminate right from the farm.

No peanut farms or trees (old joke). :-) I suspect the cold and snow are not conducive to peanut growth. ;-) The eternal linking of peanuts and tree nuts gets a little frustrating after a while. ODS is proof that you can be allergic to one and not the other (because peanuts aren't nuts at all). And, of course, peanuts are one of his favorite snacks. I'm going to have soooo much free time when he heads off to college and I don't have to feed him anymore. ;-)

When I travel alone with ODS, it's all about eggs and foods that contain eggs and cashews and almonds and pistachios and shellfish. When I travel alone with YDS, it's all about Chipotle (which added tofu to its menu a couple of years ago thereby eliminating itself from our list of go-to restaurants).

I was pitching a fit at Wegman's the other night. The roasted red skin potatoes ingredient list included soy protein. Wtf! I was not happy! I will never get the obsession with adding soy to everything.

MAYBE add some salt and pepper or a bit of butter. But, soy protein? WTF is right!!!!

I bought turkey wraps from Costco. Reading the ingredients, there is soy in them. Why would you need soy in a turkey wrap?

I do cook a lot of things from scratch. But sometimes I'm tired of cooking plus we needed to get groceries. At least they list the ingredients of the dishes so I can make a decision. I was in the ER one time and hadn't eaten all day. My poor brother after work was at the 7-11 reading labels on everything trying to find something for me to eat. Luckily I'm not life threatening allergic to it but I don't like puking so I avoid it.

Hard to get enough protein if you don't eat anything with a face Well it sucks when a side dish is ruined for those of us who cannot have soy. I would absolutely not expect to find it in potatoes. That could go badly for me if Wegman's didn't label everything. I kind of expect that at whole foods but Wegman's? Luckily Panera listened and took it out of the broccoli cheese soup.

Review on the American Best Nut Company peanuts: 1. I got a 4-flavor sample pack: salted, sea salt, honey roasted, and seasoned. 2. The seasoned peanuts have hydrolized soy protein in the seasoning. The other flavors are soy-free. 3. The sea salt peanuts are TOO salty, and that's saying alot because I love salt. 4. The honey roasted are really, really yummy. Mind you, these are southern-style peanuts -- so they are boiled before they are roasted, which gives them a distinctive crunchy but ever-so-slight gummy texture. 5. The salted peanuts are good (maybe a bit overshadowed by they yummy honey roasted). So, in total, the peanuts get a 3 out of 5 rating, but the honey roasted and salted peanuts each get 4 out of 5 (I am firmly withholding a star on every rating because of the use of stupid soy.)

Just checked -- they're "Virginia style" peanuts. Virginia is in the South. My post remains accurate.

Boiled peanuts are fine, boiled and then roasted? That's just wrong.

I bought turkey wraps from Costco. Reading the ingredients, there is soy in them. Why would you need soy in a turkey wrap? So they can put less turkey in it? Thus saving money making the product but continue to sell it labeled as "Turkey"?
