This goes back to a point I made before. People that don't conform scare the powers that be. And any form of non conformity is seen as threatening. Seriously, what risk does a large lobe or purple Mohawk present?

No, I don't really have any strong feelings about makeup one way or the other. In that thread I was just tired of the non makeup people dissing makeup folks as superficial. And there are situations where you should let people have that freedom. There is no one talking about taking away that freedom. No one. Not every person is a perfect fit for every workplace. That's life. I agree. What I don't agree with is that your hairstyle or jewellery are what determine that.

Or maybe they did try to hire one of the "offbeat" types in the past, but like @anne81 said maybe they weren't willing to go wherever they were told to go or only work on certain projects. Talent or not, you still need to be able to take orders and function in a typical office environment. The FBI is not like working for Google.

And theirs has resulted in them not being able to hack an iPhone. LOL...how do you know. Just because they are asking for Apple's help, doesn't mean they haven't already broken in.

They can't do it, so they asked for Apple's help. They are quoted in court documents saying they can't do it.
