(1) Ashley Madison or (2) Tender or (3) Match

I think there is a free version for all three but also there is a cost for membership.

my initial intention is to just make a friend

someone to call, text, visit, go out with dinner, show, etc.

Counseling might be a good thing. Just to have someone to bounce ideas off of for what you are looking for in life might help you get your own thoughts and plans solid.

I'm pretty sure Ashley Madison is shut down. Also wasn't really for "dating" more for cheaters. And it was pretty much all guys, they paid women to chat with paying customers.

Probably best to find a site targeted for a group you are looking for, they are targeted sites based on age, religion and culture/ethnicity if any of those are important to you.

Go ahead and get that six-pack you're thirsty for and I bet you won't have any problems meeting women in real life. I know a  guy in his 30's that was lean and started lifting weights a couple years ago to bulk up. He gets lots of attention from women everywhere he goes now. Young, old, attractive and not-so-much, they ooh and aah over him and I'm sure he could easily strike up a conversation with some of them if he wanted to. It's obvious he lifts weights even if his six-pack is covered. The funny part is that his legs are still scrawny because he only focuses on his chest and arms, but I guess the ladies don't notice that. I told him his upper and lower don't match at all.

I don't know if the kind of woman that's attracted to a man just because he has muscles is necessarily a "good" woman, but a woman's attractiveness and physical attributes seem to be very important to you judging by your posting history, so you might do well with a woman that's also hung up on that kind of thing. Women that know they're physically appealing and put a lot of effort into it probably look for a man that's on the same level.

agreed! I / we / there was a co worker at my job; actually she was a fill in backup person a temporary employee. well when ever she was covering and we happened to meet. her hello to me was to put her hands on my arms! give a little squeeze was her way of saying hello! it took a while to catch on to what she was doing. I do pick up my weights and put them down. but nothing to say I am working out, building tone in my arms.

I had a friend that paid the site and he chatted with a woman for a few months before they made arrangements to see each other and the traded pictures were true. 
they did some heavy kissing and touching in a car on first time out. then same ting second time they saw each other and that was that.

Go out by yourself or with friends to places where you might be likely to meet someone (group settings, etc).

You're more likely to meet a nice woman in real life encounters than trying connect with one compatible to you from an online dating site.

Online dating sites have a very low success rate when it comes to couples meeting, having compatibility and actually achieving a successful relationship from it. (Plus most people lie on their profiles).
