I would be grateful for a few "no bozos, serial killers, or feral children" thoughts. The house I share a loooong driveway with has just been put up for sale, and I am losing my good neighbors.
I really hope horrible people don't buy the house. Or crazy people. Or mean people.
Sigh. It's always something.

You could offer to help in showing the house. That way if the people that show up to look at the house look crazy or have unruly children with them, you can tell them about all the child molesters that live in the neighborhood.

Most people just want to live their lives without drama. It will be fine.

Don't think i haven't thought about that. However, the real estate agent is one of those terrifying, aggressive dragon-lady real estate agents. I don't think that would work. She would just squash me like a bug.

Bummer.
Is this the neighbor who snow blows your driveway for you? What did you do to drive him away? ;-)~
Crossing body parts and sending good vibes your way.
I know that burying a statue of St. Joseph upside down near the front door helps homes sell. Maybe you can bury one right side up to check out the potential buyers for you.
Also, don't you have some "investigative" connections leftover from your career that you could call upon before the P&S is signed?

I agree with Shooby. Most people just want to enjoy life, that's all.
I also worry about neighbors because I live in a condo with paper-thin walls. I got new neighbors about 18 months ago. It's really stressful because you don't know what you are getting. They turned out to be fine. They want to relax when they are home
The only issue I had with them was the surround system. So I knocked on their door, explained the problem, invited them to enter my home so they could hear it from my living room. They still use the surround, but moved the TV to another wall and it's much better.
It's all about being able to adapt. We live in a society so therefore we have to share and learn to tolerate others. My neighbors have a toddler and surround system. I turn on the fan when it gets to be too much. When we cross each other coming in or going out, we smile and say "Hello". Sometimes I am actually happy they are nearby since I live alone.

Also, don't you have some "investigative" connections leftover from your career that you could call upon before the P&S is signed? Yes, this is my nice, energetic neighbor who clears my driveway and whose kids are very nice, well behaved, and polite. The rumor is that he and his wife are separating, which is a real shame. They are a nice family and both parents are very involved with their kids. And they have been very good neighbors. I think it's really sad.
I'm thinking burying things in people's front yards is likely to attract unwelcome scrutiny (and possibly an invitation to visit with some official-type persons) and the ground is frozen anyway.
And using any of those "connections" would be unethical and, actually, impossible. Contrary to popular belief, very strict standards must be observed in handling that kind of information, and with the exception of a very, very tiny minority of rogues, the people handling the information are trustworthy people who know the rules and follow them. So, that avenue is closed to me. But that's a good thing.
I appreciate your good thoughts. (But please uncross feet and toes before attempting to walk or drive a car.)

There aren't a lot of Chihuahuas around here like there are in California. There is a rescue organization here that specializes in small dogs, and about once a year they get a big batch of Chihuahuas from shelters in California. Apparently there are so many in CA that it is hard to find homes for them. I wouldn't mind having a Chihuahua if it wasn't one of the terrified, yappy, hateful ones. It would give me an excuse to buy a new Coach bag, one that I could put the dog in.

Silly - you don't put a Chihuahua in a Coach purse. It might eat any seafood you have stashed in there!

I could do that, but that, too, would be fraught with pitfalls. On the whole I think it wouldn't end well, so better not. Besides, there is a possibility that the new people would have the same "connections" given the location.
I'm just hoping for nice people with non-feral children and a maybe a nice dog. Even a cat. Or a hedgehog. Some kind of pet.

Aw, that sucks to lose nice neighbors, especially when it's a separation situation. We got lucky when the opposite happened. We had the neighbors from hell (he and his GF fought and screamed at each other at 3 a.m. and his teenaged kid was a thief who walked into other peoples' garages and stole stuff). They were renters, and the neighbors got together and contacted the home's owner. We told them in no uncertain terms that if they did not terminate the lease, someone would terminate the renter. The home was sold to lovely people last year. A couple with two boys who have since adopted two more bi-racial kids. You have to be a saint to have four boys in your house. Or four kids of any gender, period.
